NYPD confiscates scary T-shirt gun mounted to rapper’s Hummer

The NYPD pulled over Christopher Stoney at West 16th Street because of the air rifle atop his Hummer.

A rapper and fashion mogul out of Philly found out the streets of New York are no place for a Hummer with a roof-mounted long gun — even if it’s just an air rifle that shoots promo T-shirts.

...the vehicle’s massive, four-foot-long air rifle somehow caught the eye of cops

“I’m sorry to say but the NYPD is about to confiscate my cannon off my truck. This s–t is crazy right now, man. They’re taking it,” he said in the clip.

—”He was ticketed for unlawful possession of an air rifle.”

What do they use at Yankee Stadium and are they licensed by NYC?

Are any shirts launched at festivals within NYC?

I have seen them launch (shoot?) hotdogs at the ballpark.

And IIRC water balloons?

You can have a squirt gun but no water

You can have water, but it must be registered and you need to go through a background check.

Cops look like a bunch of dopes. Masked up, surrounding the vehicle, lights flashing. I’m glad all crime in NY has been eliminated so they have time for this!

Aren’t fake guns supposed to have an orange tip? Not sure how that would work with this one.

In Ft. Lauderdale mid 60s a man with a black 50s Dodge did a similar deed. He painted a washtub and a piece of PVC black, placed on the roof of the car to simulate a tank turret.
He was arrested/made to remove item.

Confiscate all fossil fuel vehicles because if you put a potato (or potatoe) in the exhaust pipe it becomes an air gun.

A separate “air gun permit” required. /s

Everyone knows the best place for a tee shirt cannon is inside a sports arena where targets are stationary.

You think had the cannon been mounted on a Prius there would have been an issue?

When I was I high school I built one, but was unhappy with the need to constantly ventilate it to clear out the deoxygenated air. The answer, naturally, was to build an enhanced version with pressurized fuel (denatured alcohol) and oxygen injection, ignited by a spark gap inside the combustion chamber powered by a retrofitted stun gun. The whole thing was run by a microcontroller with fire control parameters entered on a laptop. A potato fired against a hard surface, like a concrete wall, would essentially turn into mist!
