I’m of the opinion they found Chauvin guilty of three levels of homicide because they wanted to say “F*ck You” to system for having put them in the positions they were put in. They might be hoping this opens up an easy avenue for appeal.
Perhaps. My opinion is that the jury just did a CYA verdict for every count.
If Chauvin’s attorneys aren’t stupid (don’t think so) their efforts were not focused on winning at this stage but setting the stage for appeal.
Wouldn’t surprise me if the judge also didn’t make some rulings that wouldn’t survive appeal, on purpose.
Give the mob a guilty verdict, Chauvin spends a few weeks in jail, gets out while the appeal is in process, then gets a new trial. Perhaps at that stage, he pleads to a much lesser charge and gets credited for the time served?
