More breakthrough COVID-19 cases reported among vaccinated people in Washington

The first of what will undoubtedly be many more updates on covid vaccine breakthrough cases.

"As of April 3, there were 217 breakthrough cases reported in Washington, according to DOH. This is more than double the number of breakthrough cases DOH reported two weeks ago when the state said it had seen 102 breakthrough cases through March 30."

"DOH is investigating three additional suspected deaths related to breakthrough cases. A total of five people are suspected to have died after contracting COVID-19 after being fully vaccinated."

"Since DOH first reported breakthrough cases last month, the agency says the median age of the cases has shifted younger with more people in the 40- to 59-year-old range becoming infected after vaccination."

We’ve heard all along that the vaccines would be 95% effective. That means that 5% of vaccine recipients would become infected. 5% is about 217 out of 4300. Since far more than 4300 Washington citizens have been vaccinated, this must mean that the vaccine is far more effective than 95%. This is great news!

I’m not confused at all. It’s not FDA approved. It’s experimental, and at least one 18 yr old girl died. Probably more but I’m sure they are in concert up mode

It is beginning to sound like the vaccines either “wear off” super fast or that the body does not remember very long.

More likely there are variants circulating that are more able to evade the immunity.

FRiend, you can say whatever you want to.

And so can I. Disagreement isn’t censor.

I don’t see a pattern unless I know all the facts. How many have had the shot? How many of those got Covid before the shot? How many got Covid after having the shot?

That’s the only number we know. 207 of them.

I really am open to whatever turns out to be true. But I don’t see it yet.

Be safe.

Yeah, lots of problems with mRNA vaccines in the past, including lots of deaths but it should be noted that those were animal studies (don’t tell PETA), not human studies. I couldn’t find any time frame for when the condition occurred after dosing but maybe it’s in one of the tables. So far, I don’t think we’ve heard of this happening in humans with these current vaccines. But this may also be a reason why they require 2 doses - they may have cut the dose back a lot from the earlier mRNA type vaccines.

But on whole I am suspicious, or skeptical, of the whole enterprise. I am suspicious how something that failed for 15 years suddenly works for this. I am suspicious that we threw billions into these vaccines and spent virtually nothing looking for treatments even when we had lots of evidence that HCQ+ and Ivermectin+ might work instead of running large trials they literally tried to “debunk” them. I am suspicious that Fauci et al have their own biases and wanted to advance mRNA technology and intentionally held back research into treatments to promote the mRNA platform.

Could just be that this is a follow-on attack from China.

From this report, it appears we are starting to see some exponential growth in the breakthrough cases.

Interesting research here. The spike itself may be the problem.

Good post—your sense of smell is doing its job.

It stinks—all of it.

The vaccine propaganda is laughably stupid.

Well generally I agree with your comment but that 95% number doesn’t mean 95% won’t get infected. It just means 95% will not have severe symptoms. No vaccine prevents infection, they just teach the immune system how to fight it so if/when a person is infected it can be killed off quickly.

Still 95% reduction in severe cases is a good thing, if true and if it hold up. I sometimes wonder if this is just “buying time” under the expectation that everyone is going to catch it at some point - just minimize the severity when you do.

Thanks. I skimmed over it and had a hard time figuring out its import. I’ll read it more closely. Seems they are concerned about the cells that the spike protein binds with and what may happen as those cells reproduce over time. If I read it right, there is just no possible way to know yet. ‘Time will tell’.

What is the percentage of the population to have contracted COVID? And how does that compare to the percentage projected to catch COVID notwithstanding the vaccine?

It is generally thought that the sole function of viral membrane fusion proteins is to allow the viruses to bind to the host cells for the purpose of viral entry into the cells, so that the genetic materials can be released and the viral replication and amplification can take place.

However, recent observations suggest that the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein can by itself trigger cell signaling that can lead to various biological processes. It is reasonable to assume that such events, in some cases, result in the pathogenesis of certain diseases.

Our laboratory only tested the effects of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in lung vascular cells and those implicated in the development of PAH.

However, this protein may also affect the cells of systemic and coronary vasculatures, eliciting other cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease, systemic hypertension, and stroke. In addition to cardiovascular cells, other cells that express ACE2 have the potential to be affected by the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, which may cause adverse pathological events.
