Shove it in your pocket and shut your mouth.
Why throw good fortune into a ditch?
She was smiled upon by the money gods and spat in their faces.
Since I’ve moved to Spain I’ve found 2 wallets and a flash drive loaded with someone’s personal information. One of the wallets had 150 Euros in it, the other no money. I took the flash drive to our insurance agent’s office so the secretary (who was also a friend of ours) could put it in her computer and see if she could figure out who the owner was. The wallets I returned by calling the number on the credit card and having them contact the owner. We didn’t stick around for the flash drive but the lady said that when the guy came to collect it he didn’t so much as say thanks. Same thing with me for the wallet I found with the 150 Euros in it, which it turns out was owned by a former judge and law professor who owned the biggest house in my area. Of course the one who thanked me was the lady who had nothing. I told her I found the wallet that way so she didn’t think I ripped her off and she said there wasn’t anything in it when she lost it. She didn’t even know it was missing when the credit card people called her.
When we were fairly new arrivals in Spain we went to a beach and when we were walking back out we saw a man who was walking in front of us drop his phone out of his backpack. We picked it up, caught up to him and returned it. We’re walking along, this time in front of the guy, and he grabs my arm and starts jabbering on about his wallet. Apparently he was thinking we stole the phone and wallet, kept the wallet and returned the phone to avoid suspicion. I thought we were going to start fighting and we kept trying to walk away. We got some distance between us when he started rummaging through his backpack again but he ran up to us again, this time to show us his wallet. No apologies for accusing us of being thieves, he was just happy he found his wallet.
This sounds like it could wind up being a lottery lol.
I’ll take “near the bank, and $12,000.00”.
Or.....
A less than honest cop could get the “winning” information to a friend for a 50/50 draw.
years ago as a poor young man I was walking home two or three days before Christmas when I found five dollars on the ground in the parking lot of the mall I worked at. I was struggling financially and thought how fortunate I was. I then proceeded to ask god if he could send me a little more money this being Christmas time.
Five minuids later walking home I glance down and spotted an envelope envelope. I bent down and picked up the envelope inside 500 cash. I felt luck tand immediately thought of what I can do with the money.
I then looked at the out side of the envelope and discovered on it 4 Spanish names and after each name 2-3 words I could not totally read but thought they might be Spanish names for difrent toys.. I then realized that my finding this money was not a gift from god it was a lesson.
Finding this lost money meant that a parent was not going to buy Christmas presents for there kids. I started home with my brain stuck on the fact that I had found 5 hundred dollars and was not happy about ending up with it.
About 10 minutes later I see a young woman crying and looking in the streets gutter. I ask her if she lost something. She speaks to me in Spanish a language I dont speak. I have no idea what she is saying but assume I assume that this envelope is hers. so I hand it to her and her reaction is one that tells me I am right.
Lesson of this incident is that finding lost money is not a blessing from god it is a responsibility and duty given to who ever finds money.
The only money that is ever yours is the money you make by the sweat and toil that you do to earn it.
One time I was riding my bike, and ran over a ten dollar bill. I was making $3 a week on my paper route (about ten hours of work). I told no one. Those were good times.
This is about one penny. When my friend had very small children she’d give them ten pennies to put in the offering plate on Sunday. After church one day she noticed her daughter playing with a penny that she had kept for herself. They piled into the car, took the long drive back to church, and had Susie (not her name) give the penny to the pastor.
The kids all grew up to be great adults. Susie flew jets for the Navy, and now is teaching.
