I don’t remember about a Q-tip but Graham Ledger had a doctor on his podcast who recommended nose spray with an iodine solution.

There's also OTC Xlear, a Xylitol based spray that is a candidate for EUA because the FDA proved it's efficacy or preventing the Rona. It's also super easy to make at home.
