two more years. I was going to retire this year and then go back into real estate but with Josef Stolen in charge, I decided to hang onto my job longer.

Last summer and fall I watched You Tube videos reporting the extensive Yangtze river floods. There was great damage to food growing in the vast flood plains converted to crops.
A general food shortage became reality
The CCP issued edicts to conserve food. High on the list of food wasters were various banquets of Party members, businesses and families where more food was thrown away than was consumed. There were video clips of the banquets and then the food garbage.
When I was single and cooking for one, my favorite meal was a big baked potato with whatever on top. No leftovers.
With two of us, we have leftovers and are happy to have them. Sometimes they taste better the second day. Also, it saves time thinking about meal planning — which I loved to do in my “yout”, but find that it’s a pain now.
