Excessive speed caused Tiger Woods’ Palos Verdes area crash, L.A. County sheriff says
KTLA ^ | Apr 7, 2021 / 11:29 AM PDT

Woods’ SUV was traveling between 84 and 87 mph — nearly twice the posted speed limit — when it struck a raised median, Villanueva said.

The vehicle was still traveling at about 75 mph as it then careened into a nearby tree in the area of Hawthorne Boulevard and Blackhorse Road.

Sheriff’s Capt. James Powers said there was no evidence that the golfer braked throughout the wreck and that it’s believed Woods inadvertently hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal.

Idiots. Spent almost two months and god only knows how many man-hours on a one car accident with a super rich guy. Meanwhile bums are everywhere, crime is rampant, Mexicans are pouring in.

Waste of time.

What was his blood alcohol level?

Yes, excessive speed may have contributed to his crash but something else likely caused it.

“I was cited for failure to control and I was the only car involved and no one saw it.”

I was pulled over once because I accelerated rapidly from a stop onto a highway. I never exceeded the speed limit. The policeman knew that but said I was putting on a display of excessive speed. He didn’t give me a ticket.

“They have the speed recorded”

You mean a “black box” in the new cars? That’s as intrusive as recording your mileage to determine your road tax as Buttgieg proposes.

Speed overdose.

*********

LOL.....

Yep sometime speed will get you into trouble.

If Tiger ever gets into another tournament he’ll catch a few
calls from the crowd. Hey Tiger how is your speed now?
Are your putts speeding? Slow your putts and maybe they
will go in the hole. etc. etc. etc.

It would be fun time to hear/watch.

Agree. He’s reaching the age where he will heal, but those aches and pains will never leave and significantly reduce his playing ability.

If your car is from 2013 or later, you are almost guaranteed
to have a black box. Less than 5 percent of new cars came
without one in 2013, and they are mandated in all new vehicles
since 2014.

How do they know his speed that precisely?

I was on his wife’s side

Coming to the US as a nanny and marrying one millionaire and now hooking up with a billionaire, I'd say little Heidi is pretty good at her own game too............

“...inadvertently hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal.”

That’s what I’m going to tell the cop next time I get pulled. Think it’ll work?
= = =

I mistakenly used my putter instead of my wedge.

Ever think that Tiger would make that mistake?

A friend was in a serious accident that was caused by another vehicle doing something stupid, he hit my friend’s car and forced him into an oncoming vehicle. The driver who caused it lied to the cops, and he and the oncoming driver both sued my friend for damages.

He hired a lawyer who got the readout from his black box and proved in court that the other guy was lying and that my friend wasn’t at fault. He was totally exonerated, and proceeded to sue the guy who caused it.

Without the black box, he would have been royally screwed.

I’m not saying I like the idea of a black box, but sometimes it can really help you.

And it’s not in any way comparable to Butt Gig’s mileage monitoring proposal. The vehicle black box continuously records new data and writes over old data so that if an accident happens, the box stops recording new data and saves a record of what the vehicle was doing 5-20 seconds before the crash, during the crash, and for a short time thereafter.

"Woods’ SUV was traveling between 84 and 87 mph — nearly twice the posted speed limit — when it struck a raised median"

"Woods inadvertently hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal."

I don't know what kind of car Tiger Woods is driving, but I don't think it's the kind that goes instantly from 45 to 85. Even in a fast car, it takes several seconds. To believe this wasn't intentional is ridiculous. Unless Woods was driving Spaceball 1.

I watched him being interviewed just a few days before the wreck. He appeared to be somewhat disoriented. Looked very tired.

With his history with pain killers, I hope someone is keeping tabs on him.
