Ambien driving at 83 MPH and comes out alive.
That’s a safe car.

When I was 19, I hit some black ice in Utah during a blizzard. I rolled my car 5 times down a hill and was taken to the hospital. While I was in the emergency room, a highway patrolman gave me a ticket for speeds to fast for conditions. I was going about 15 MPH.Did you have a passenger who talked to the cops, or were there other witnesses around who said you were going too fast?

His car telemetry is probably where the 85 came from, not being clocked by the cops.

He obviously has a “get out of jail free” card. Don’t know exactly why.
No, wait.......

“In any event, considering there were no indications he took any evasive action, I’m not sure it mattered. He simply drove off the road like due to inattention.”
Actually, the accident began (at 83 MPH on that winding road) as the driver’s side wheel (first, followed quickly by the passenger side front wheel) hit a median strip (the road has a median strip divider), which was the point at which Woods lost control, as the entire vehicle direction turned to mount & fully cross the median and on across the pavement on the other side, to the embankment next to it, where the vehicle landed.
At 83 miles per hour in a frisky front wheel drive vehicle (and each wheel independent of the other) I think an out of control incident is imminent upon crossways (at an angle, not head on) hitting a raised median strip in the road at that speed.
Speed kills. I imagine Woods will be a different driver the rest of his life, and knows he is lucky the accident was not worse.

He’s lucky to even be alive after a 83MPH crash.

It looks like Woods’ goal to surpass Jack Nicklaus’ record of winning 18 majors is not going to happen. He’s pretty busted up from the accident and his back wasn’t all that great anyways.
But, I would never bet against the guy.

Whoops! And they didn’t test this guy for DUI?
It’s really unbelievable.

But, even in an X5 M or Cayenne, 83 is a big ask on that twisty stretch of road, IMO. In any event, considering there were no indications he took any evasive action, I’m not sure it mattered. He simply drove off the road like due to inattention. Agree, 65-70 perhaps, but 83 is rocking it, especially if he were texting he was going to be late.

"Speed limits are for the little people."
This kind of stuff keeps getting worse. Even the law is raising a middle-finger to the law; everything now depends on who you are, a complete rejection of the Constitutional idea of the equal protection of - and equal enforcement of - the law.
A BLM riot? Arrest just a few, and drop the charges on most of them. A right-wing riot? Spend months going over footage to arrest anyone who was in the area, and throw the book at them for minor offenses like trespassing.
Set up an "autonomous zone" (CHAZ) occupying several square blocks of a major city (Seattle), occupy it for three weeks, and the City provides you with portable toilets and barriers. Law enforcement - including federal law enforcement - makes no effort to shut it down until a crime wave hits the area. The word "insurrection" never passes the lips of any government official.
But occupy the Capitol for three hours, walk around taking selfies, while making no demands and issuing no manifesto, and its an "insurrection," "sedition," and "treason."
And when leftists occupied the Wisconsin State Capitol about ten years ago, federal agents did not interfere and the word "insurrection" was never used. I'm getting sick of this crap.
From the Daily Mail:
Tiger Woods was reportedly traveling at 83mph - almost double the speed limit of 45mph - when he crashed in Southern California earlier this year.
Analysis of the data recorder of the 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV, known as a black box, is said to show Woods accelerated at the time of the crash on February 23, the sources claim.
They added that in the moment Tiger lost control, the SUV gained speed.
Detectives were, however, not able to get a warrant to the golf pro's cellphone to understand if Woods had been on his phone at the time of the crash, it is claimed.
They said there were concerns detectives did not have a probable cause to get the warrant.
I guarantee they would have "probable cause" to get a warrant for anyone else who had an 83mph accident in a 45mph zone when they never applied the brakes.
He almost certainly passed out at the wheel and hit the accelerator - ANOTHER Ambien incident for a guy with a history of them?

"Many states don't even allow red-light cameras or automated speed enforcement."
They sure allow them around here (Seattle area). A friend got a $200 ticket because she didn't notice the yellow light at the side of the road in a school zone. She was doing 35 (the normal posted speed) but was supposed to slow to 20 when the light was flashing. If I recall, there were no children present, but dismissal time had just arrived and they would soon be leaving the school, so the light went on.

Is it too much to ask of Tiger that he himself explain what he believes happened?
