The reported side effects from the second dose of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines have increased so-called vaccine hesitancy. But public health officials urge Americans to get both doses. Here is why.
The United States is now averaging more than 3 million vaccine shots every day. Even as the program is accelerating, new cases are stubbornly still on the rise.
Side effects coming with the second dose of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines have increased so-called vaccine hesitancy. Some people are even hoping to get away with just one shot. But the National Institutes of Health is warning against stopping at one dose.
"When you just leave it at one dose, the question is, how long does it last?" Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of NIAID, said. "And when you're dealing with variants, you're in a tenuous zone."
Dr. Paul Offit, the director of the vaccine education center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, urges people to get both shots despite the side effects associated with the second dose.
"Although it's true the second dose can cause fatigue and fever and headache and muscle ache, it is a small price to pay to be protected against this disease for a more durable or longer length period of time," Offit said.
He said that the overwhelming scientific evidence shows that both doses offer the best protection against COVID19.
"Vaccines are the only way out of this pandemic and we are not going to get out of this pandemic unless we have at least 80% population immunity," Offit said. "You owe it to yourself and everyone you come in contact with to get this vaccine."
Dr. Shereef Elnahal, the CEO of University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, also urges people not to be afraid of the mild side effects involving the second dose.

Oh, okay. 4 weeks is the interval they’re trying for with most people for the Moderna vaccine. 3 weeks for the Pfizer, if I remember correctly. A family member joked with me about the Moderna vaccine and the movie, “28 Days Later” (zombie flick).

If it’s so safe and scientific (which time will tell) why the hard sell and continously drone talking points and very little proof of anything? Fedgov lies about everything else but for this trust Fedgov let alone pharmaceutical companies being paid by Fedgov? It doesn’t even act like a true vaccine because you can still spread and receive it and to top it off they only can guess what varient it works against. They don’t know what they don’t know because normally it takes years to STUDY it and then approve it. For so many more questions than answers it may be prudent to pass as the survival rate is extremely high for most healthy people. If you are in the 55 plus and the shot is essential go for it. This is all unprecedented and Americans are Guinea Pigs.So we will have millions “vaccinated”, still have cases,mask mandates, lock downs, societal rot, economic ruin, possibly a Chicom like “passport” and yearly COVID season and the grim possibility of very grim stats as the years go by due to side effects and how it may disrupt cells, DNA and genes etc. Don’t forget new normal mail in voting to solidify all of the above. The good news is that God gave us a immune system and the tools for healthy living.
The 2 shot vaccines have over 90% efficacy.
Soon there will be an excess of available vaccines and all who want to be protected will have had the opportunity. A sane government would end any and all pandemic restrictions at that point.
Sadly, the totalitarian rules that should never have been tolerated by the public in the first place will be difficult to wrest from the power-hungry tyrants.
Next will be the “private sector” driven passport BS. There simply is no need. If one has declined vaccination and wants to attend public venues, that’s their decision, and the excuse that proof of immunity in order to protect the already immune or others who are willing to take their chances getting infected is simply ridiculous.
You are required to wait at least 3 weeks.
They schedule your second dose when they schedule your first dose. You don’t have to compete with everyone else to get your second shot.
If the Public Health “experts” were competent to practice they would be in private practice. Always remember that.
Everyone should use this. They preach risk management in the military for everything except these shots.

As noted prior, COVID-19 threads have a significant signal to noise ratio.
There’s enough information out there for each person to make a data informed decision.
But at the end of the day, it is each person’s decision. And FReepers need to accept that.
Some of the worst offending issues are 1) mask wearing and 2) vaccines.
Good grief, people. Don’t get so wrapped around the axle that others don’t see COVID-19 issues the same as you or make the same decisions as you.
Unfortunately, there are FReepers on both sides that seem to not only disagree with the “other sides” but also antagonize and make the issues personal with insults and threats. A flame war erupts, rendering the thread essentially useless.
