Abstract:

“A low energy nuclear reactor (LENR) is provided for producing thermal energy. The LENR includes first and second vessels and an ignitor. The first vessel defined a first chamber containing LENR fuel. The second vessel disposed inside the first vessel defines a second chamber containing exothermic material. The ignitor initiates the exothermic material by sparking. The LENR fuel reacts to produce the thermal energy in response to initiation heat from the exothermic material.”

Claims:

1. A low energy nuclear reactor (LENR) for providing thermal energy, said LENR comprising: a first vessel defining a first chamber containing LENR fuel; a second vessel disposed inside said first vessel and defining a second chamber containing exothermic material; and an ignitor for initiating said exothermic material by sparking, wherein said LENR fuel reacts to produce the thermal energy in response to initiation heat from said exothermic material.

2. The LENR according to claim 1, further comprising an electric source to provide said sparking as sudden energy application.

3. The LENR according to claim 1, wherein said LENR fuel comprises lithium (Li) and lithium aluminum hydride (LiAlH.sub.4) as reagents and nickel (Ni) as a catalyst.

4. The LENR according to claim 1, wherein said exothermic material comprises aluminum (Al) and iron oxide (Fe.sub.2O.sub.3).

5. The LENR according to claim 1, further comprising a Seebeck device to convert said thermal energy into electrical energy.

6. The LENR according to claim 1, wherein said vessels are composed of at least one of titanium (Ti), tantalum (Ta), tungsten (W), Hastelloy, Inconel, stainless steel, alumina (Al.sub.2O.sub.3), and hafnium boride (HfB.sub.2).

7. The LENR according to claim 1, wherein said ignitor is composed of one of sodium azide (NaN.sub.3) and copper azide (Cu(N.sub.3).sub.2).

“Give us 10% of those useless hot fusion boys’ funding and it’ll be a product in 5 years.” I believe this claim has been made for at least 30 years. Nothing to show for it. But allow me to comment on your opening statement.
Give us? Give us? How about you earn it! Produce even on a small scale a Cold Fusion reactor that can power a small subdivision. Do that and investors will come running.
The power war of the early days of electricity between Tesla and Edison was won when Tesla proved his power tech was superior to Edison’s. He was so confident he GAVE the patent to Westinghouse. Cold Fusion has much to prove and to date little to show of any significance.

I say, let the funding be commensurate to the Joules produced. Cold Fusion would then get 25 orders magnitude more funding.

The Air Force probably has a patent for a hyperdrive using dilithium...

Since it is the government, not a lot of trust margin available for assigning any credibility to this...

“25 orders of magnitude”

that’s a lot, right?

I say, PROVE IT and the Funding will come. Until you can PROVE IT Cold Fusion remains a Theoretical PIPE DREAM. PROVE IT with a real-world reactor capable of producing real-world levels of power. To date, no one has come close to Proving this to anyone. Thus, No Investment Dollars. And, none are deserved.
Sounds to me like you want Gov’t Dollars for your Pipe Dream. If this is the case, you’re on the wrong site. Oh, wait, this report is about the US Navy and Cold Fusion. The US Navy is Taxpayer funded. Why, what do you know. You’ve got your wish for taxpayer funding.
Not going to hold my breath awaiting a productive, real-world result. Would not be conducive to a long healthy life.

The difference in mass between a flea and an elephant is about 6 or 7 orders of magnitude.

So yeah, 25 orders of magnitude is a LOT.

Where on earth is a Cold Fusion reactor powering anything? Anything? A small neighborhood. A ship? A building? An RC car? An incandescent lightbulb? An LED lightbulb? Where? Tell me?
For more than 30 years the proponents of this PIPE DREAM, which by the way does not exist anywhere in nature have been making claims they cannot back up and more than 30 years later they have nothing of any significance to show for it.
Is there Sun in the known Universe that is a Cold Fusion body? I mean if it’s actually possible there should be amongst the millions upon millions of suns a Cold Fusion star somewhere! Right?

Where on earth is a hot fusion reactor powering anything? We’ve spent hundreds of $billions for NOTHING.
Cold fusion has been privately funded to the tune of tens of $millions.

You should learn to apply the same standards to each side of an equation, what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

“Where on earth is a hot fusion reactor powering anything? We’ve spent hundreds of $billions for NOTHING.
Cold fusion has been privately funded to the tune of tens of $millions.” With NOTHING to show for it.
As for fission power plants, France, for one. 80% of ALL THE electricity in that country is derived from fission nuclear power plants. Why only 80%? Because nuclear power plants run at a constant output. They are not capable of ramping up or powering down as demands dictate. So, the remaining 20% are coal and NatGas-powered plants that can do just that.

Do you have such vehemence against low temp superconductivity research? Nope. It has also been 30 years of promise with no product. Your skeptopathism is reserved ONLY for LENR.

No.
You have all the signs of a typical Liberal. Can’t win a debate on the merits? Demand that the opposing view be canceled. I will not leave this thread.
If you can’t debate on the merits and want me gone appeal directly to the moderators and let’s see what their judgment is. I look forward to that.
