MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Rev. Al Sharpton led the family of George Floyd and others in a prayer Tuesday outside the Hennepin County Courthouse, where the trial of Derek Chauvin is taking place. Chauvin is the former Minneapolis police officer charged in Floyd’s death.
"We wept through many cases from Rodney King to Eric Garner to Michael Brown—some never reached the courthouse," Sharpton said. "But here we are now, in the shadows of a courthouse, praying for justice."
Among the attendees at the prayer were Floyd family attorney Benjamin Crump, Eric Garner’s mother Gwen Carr and former New York Governor David Paterson.
Philonise Floyd, George Floyd’s brother, spoke following the prayer, saying, "After we get the verdict and we get this conviction, we’ll be able to breathe."

I’m sure he was a good brother. 27 million reasons why.
Michael Brown’s case never reached the courthouse, because he attacked the police officer. Michael Brown died due to his own poor choices. But Al Sharpton and his boys can’t ever admit that.
Heck, they can’t ever admit any extenuating circumstances in these cases which they use to show all this racism they perceive.
Can't let the facts get in the way of a good hoax.
I expect a lot of cities burning this summer because leftists are so nice.
He probably would have traded his brother’s worthless life for $2,700 and some hair extensions for his girl. $27M from the moron marxists is a no-brainer.
By “justice” they mean a “lynching.”
I see this a Zimmerman redux. A court of law trumps the court of public ppinion.
Former officer Derek Chauvin has been tried, convicted and sentenced, why did they even bother with this farce of a trial. It is all settled, go home folks, nothing to see here.
And we will burn down your city all over again, getting those parts we missed before. This is going nationwide, every hotspot will be re-ignited, and even more fury and storm will be piled on the rubble.
I wish this was sarcasm and parody. But in the minds of many, the situation is already settled.
Jurors only have to verify by pressing on the side of their own necks that Chauvin could not have reduced Floyd’s breathing ability by doing so.
I’ve heard that Chauvin did not allow paramedics to treat Floyd promptly. That is the only avenue for a possible conviction that I see.
Sharpton is a piece of $*** and none of these people cared one jot for Floyd when he was alive. This is nothing more than a looting operation.
I fear violence after this trial.
If he’s acquitted there will be riots.
If he’s convicted but doesn’t get a life sentence, or a sentence long enough to suit Al Sharpton and company, then they will riot over that.
Philonise, you can breathe all you want of what I produce after gorging on beans and brussels sprouts.
“Philonise”?! Is the brother a Greek philosopher from Ancient Greece?
I fully expect a lot of cities to burn. I’m bringing marshmallows.
Only way there won’t be riots, is if he’s convicted and sentenced to lethal injection. That ain’t gonna happen. He’s innocent
‘After we get this verdict and we get this conviction, we’ll be able to breathe’
I am thinking that breathing will be something done at one’s peril, when immersed in the toxic smoke and fire of the resulting “Verdict Celebration”. We have seen NBA Championships spur riots that destroy, rape, and kill. Why does anyone think this will be more benign? Save yourself, get outa town!
It’s increasingly evident. Reasonable doubt has already been established from what I can see. The cops probably should have initiated CPR when GF went unresponsive though but I don’t believe they were under a legal obligation to do so.
A professional prosecutor would tell George Floyd’s brother to keep his mouth shut, lest he prejudice the jury (even moreso).
