Eighteen-year-old Marshall Hutchings’ lawsuit filed Monday alleges his father, Dana Hutchings, was not made aware of the risks and danger involved in an eating competition...
The 41-year-old died after choking on tacos while competing in the contest during a Fresno Grizzlies game on Aug. 13, 2019. Participants competed to devour as many tacos as possible during a certain amount of time.

Very sad. Amateurs need to learn from professional eating contestants, since amateurs are not familiar with the laws of nature. Pro cyclists sometimes use blood doping as a way to go faster which is an amateur way to go fast. Doubling one’s blood volume but not doubling volume of veins is harmful, dangerous and not so bright.
> hold my bier
If that spelling was intentional then you have a dark sense of humor. I know I’m going to use it.
with shrimp I hear that:
“You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. There’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich.”
I know...I know...when I saw that movie...
I looked it up. He died on Taco Tuesday.
Intentional...but it is tragic..guy probably thought he would get some free tacos and a fun memory..I have eaten corn tortilla chips fast and nearly choked...so I would never get in a contest like that..
Wait just one second! Are yu telling me you have to eat as many tacos as humanly possible in a time limit? Were there crayons and sock puppets to further explain this complicated rule? I think there should be IQ tests before any competition. “Sorry, but you are too damn stupid to know how to chew and swallow a taco!”
Not really. He died.
The Old Man croaked. Sonny Boy stands to cash in.
They's lemon shrimp, fried shrimp, shrimp cocktail....
The Supreme Court will eventually likely find there is ‘standing’ for such a case to move forward. Perhaps they may consider it “comfort food“ opposed to more complex cases
As we said in the old country, “Tough Tacos”.
Another Darwin Award winner/loser.
Another old world saying, “Stupid is, as stupid does”.
Sorry for the son’s loss of a father but a little common sense (”Dad, don’t do it”) would have prevented this tragedy.
Donating one of your kidneys to save someone else, and then contracting some debilitating disease that make you lose your one remaining kidney, and being unable (for some reason) to accept a donation, is tragic. Not this.
Regards,
Taco eating contest? That’s pretty damn stupid.
The guy made a poor choice, but so did the team. On what planet does an amateur taco eating contest sound like a smart idea? And was it approved by legal? They should have just held the professional taco eating contest they were going to have the following day.
It did take me a while to get that passage of dialogue out of my head...:)
Gene pool improved by his death.
ANYONE who competes in an eating or drinking contest is an imbecile and deserves whatever “prize” they win.
Here’s your prize

The example described by you is mega-horrendously sad and tragic. The taco mans example is sad and tragic cause it underscores the common(not all) human tendency to think that nothing can go wrong in all we do. Bathtub falls and death is a very common example.
Freegards also.
