A 60 Minutes story on Florida's vaccine rollout accused Ron DeSantis, the state's Republican governor, of making a corrupt deal with Publix to distribute the vaccine. CBS reporter Sharyn Alfonsi noted that the grocery chain donated $100,000 to DeSantis' election campaign and suggested the lucrative vaccination contract was a "pay-to-play" scheme.
It's an accusation that doesn't really stand up to scrutiny: For one thing, Publix—like many large corporations—gives money to both Republicans and Democrats. But more importantly, the decision to have Publix coordinate vaccination was not even made by the governor's office. According to Jared Moskowitz, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, it was his offices that recommended Publix. Moskowitz, a Democrat, has said that Publix was the best store for the job, since it has more than 800 locations across the state.
Indeed, when Alfonsi cornered DeSantis at a press conference and asked him about Publix, he gave a lengthy explanation that largely undercut her claims. He pointed out, for instance, that it wasn't true that Publix got the vaccines first: CVS and Walgreens had already been contracted to coordinate vaccination for long-term care facilities

CBS wants to be the worst at truth and #1 at Leftist activism.
No way? CBS lied to make a prominent Republican look bad?! When did they start doing such things?
The falsehoods are coming at a fast and furious pace. The more DeSantis is being touted as a Presidential candidate for 2024 more and more lies will be bandied about.
Cant let facts get in the way of the narative.
When even Publix and dem state officials call BS:
‘Irresponsible, Absolutely Malarkey’: Publix, Democratic State Official Blast ‘60 Minutes’ Over Hit Piece on DeSantis
Doesn’t matter, the media can’t be sued. The first of many hit pieces on Desantis, especially now with Kristi Noem out of the way.
A lay person could have fact checked this in their sleep. Great journalism! Between this and the See BS interview of Hunter Biden, the left had a banner day yesterday.
Walgreens, CVS , Publix, Walmart, Winn Dixie and I think Sams are giving the vaccine. Publix has a pharmacy that’s very popular here in Florida. I use them so I can get my scripts when I grocery shop. I don’t have to make a special trip to the drug store. DeSantis is getting very popular and the libs can’t have that!
Flawed? How about downright dishonest?
How about they lied?
The fake news has a new target that they will do their utmost to destroy.
The selective editing of DeSantis’ comments rival the duplicity of the Dan Rathergate Bush story. When a politician answers a reporter’s question with a highly detailed, fact-base explanation of why the reporter’s premise is simply factually inaccurate to then pretend like the politician is avoiding the question by excising the answer from their report, that’s not journalism. That’s propaganda.
This full transcript of the interview shows how CBS lied by omission.

Program better named “The Lying Hour”.
60 Minutes has always been a pit of lies. A sane society would have silenced those liars many years ago.
Publix is the dominant grocery chain in Florida.
Most Publix stores lack a pharmacy in my area.
My Publix pharmacy isn’t very busy and it probably isn’t one of a kind. Therefore, it was not difficult for Publix to give the state a good price.
We have widespread county bus service in Florida. In my area, the county bus is free.
All the Gimmes have to do is to figure out their needed bus route and show up at the bus stop ahead of time.
I got my first shot.
I commend the people of the Florida Department of Health for their efficiency and professionalism.
