About 23 years ago, the San Francisco Giants rolled out the huge “AIDS Quilt” in left field at Candlestick Park — right in front of where my 7 year old son and I were sitting. “Daddy, why are they rolling that thing out?”
“Well, son, some people who like to sew are showing off their work.”
That REALLY pissed me off and I went to only a few games after that. Even at the time I thought “what the HELL are they thinking? Are those who are getting AIDS really big baseball fans? Why piss off the main fan base?”
Some things have not changed a bit.
