I had a '66 MGB for a while, with all the options: pinstripe leather interior, Seat belts, AM radio, heater and ashtray! The heater generated just enough output that on cold days, you could choose between a marginally lukewarm interior or defrosted windshield. It was a labor of love to keep it running, maintaining the dual SU carbs, dealing with cold rain that found its way through the top and dripped down the back of your neck, etc.
But on a nice day, or a clear, warm night, there was nothing better than dropping the top, feeling the breeze in the hair that I had back then, playing curves on backroads, or hitting the interstate with a bowl of stars overhead and seeing from horizon to horizon. All the work, money and heartache poured into that car was somehow worth it.
I don't think this new "cyberster," is going to have that same romantic appeal unless they somehow find a way to make it drip oil on the driveway.
