The Ten Commandments are on TV right now, and it showed Black People kissing Pharaoh's ring and honoring him.
WHEN IS IT GOING TO GET CANCELLED?
I would have put a /sarc tag on it but you just never know these days.
We’re watching...
We’re watching too. It’s just not Passover without it.
I will watch anyway...
Mr FF and I thought he same thing about cancel culture. Yes, we are watching. We watch it every year. I may need to find a dvd copy though, because the cancel culture will surely come for this movie at any moment.
Just give em time as they’re currently working on it.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1......
Same. Tradition. Fun.
That’s gotta be at least an HR of commercials during this.
Are they woke?
I try to catch these on TCM or on Kodi with no commercials.
The main star was also pro gun and later lead a terrorist organization
The book was better.
I downloaded it off of archive.org Remastered DVD quality. I play them off a hardrice on my TV with an old WD TV player . No commercials.
What does this movie have to do with Easter?
They had Ben Hur on yesterday I didn’t know ABC had the rights.
Ummmm. Christ being the ultimate Passover Lamb ushering in the New Covenant. It’s always good to see how Salvation History fits together.
I am fascinated by how God’s plan to save his creatures comes together.
Old Testament Passover to save the Jews in bondage becomes Christ’s Sacrifice to redeem sinners.
Old Testament Manna in the desert becomes the Body and Blood of Christ (the living Bread).
Old Testament Ark of the Covenant (carrying the word of God) becomes the Virgin Mary (who Carried the Word made Flesh)
It ALL points to Easter because the Old Testament is not the end. The New Testament is the fulfillment of Salvation History.
15 commandments - that’s what Mel Brooks told us. Oy vey
Heston was my president.
I think Jesus is the star of the show in any Easter movie.
Didn’t see Jesus in The Ten Commandments.
TCM plays both versions of Ben-Hur. (The silent one is quite excellent) but ABC has the sole rights to Ten Commandments. CBS once owned the sole rights to Wizard of Oz, but rating started sliping and they let go of it. Turner/WB now has the sole rights to it.
I watched it. I’ve watched it every year, since I first watched it 52 years ago. I love it.
