A guy I worked with lived out beyond suburbia, amongst the tall corn.
His oneway commute was about 50 miles, hit two or three every year.
He had a marked preference for larger, old American cars.
There were a few times of the year when he would go out of his way and take the Illinois Toll Road to avoid them.
That said, his driving time is about the same as crossing traffic-infested suburbs and housing is about half the price.
And a better class of neighbors too.
I am deathly afraid of hitting one on my motorcycle. A man was killed near here about a month ago by one.
We have deer here on Eglin AFB, that major highways go thru, they eat on the side of the road as cars pass by..............
