“The Chief Medical Examiner for D.C. on Wednesday gave his determination on the causes of death involving those who died in the Capitol riot on January 6th.
Dr. Francisco Diaz, the Chief Medical Examiner, listed the causes of death as following:
• Ashli Babbitt, 35, died from a gunshot wound to her left shoulder, her death has been ruled a ‘homicide’
• Roseanne Boyland, 34, died of acute amphetamine intoxication, her death has been ruled ‘accidental’
• Kevin Greeson, 55, died of hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, his death has been ruled ‘natural’
• Benjamin Phillips, 50, died of hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, his death has been ruled ‘natural’
The cause of death for Officer Brian Sicknick was not as open-and-shut a case as widespread media reports led many Americans to believe. The death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick is still unknown and under investigation.”

“The DC Medical Examiner’s Office has determined Ashli Babbitt’s death to be a homicide.
“On Wednesday, January 6, 2021 an unprecedented incident of civil insurrection at the United States Capitol resulted in the deaths of five individuals,” the summary read. “The District of Columbia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Francisco J. Diaz, MD, FCAP, has issued the following determinations as to the cause and manner of death for four of those individuals.”
Ashli Babbitt, who had been shot by a US Capitol Police officer during the fracas, was killed by a bullet to the left anterior shoulder. Dr. Diaz ruled the manner of death a homicide.
The summary also reads that the “cause and manner of death for Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick are pending.”
As for the others who died, Kevin Greeson and Benjamin Phillips suffered strokes—described in the report as “hypertensive artherosclerotic cardiovascular disease”—and Roseanne Boyland, who lost consciousness and was crushed in the melee, had suffered “acute amphetamine intoxication.”
