Investigators have determined cause of Tiger Woods crash but won’t release details, Villanueva says
KTLA ^ | Mar 31, 2021 / 01:09 PM PDT

Investigators did not seek a search warrant for Woods’ blood samples, which could be screened for drugs and alcohol. In 2017, Woods checked himself into a clinic for help in dealing with prescription drug medication after a DUI charge in his home state of Florida.

Detectives, however, did obtain a search warrant for the data recorder of the 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV, known as a black box. Villanueva would not say Wednesday what data had been found in the black box.

“Viagra and tequila.”

Been there, done that. Apparently I had a great time. Too bad I didn’t remember any of it.

“...known as a black box...”
When will they change the name of this device?
= = =

Especially when you realize that the ‘black’ box snitches on you.

But we’re not talking a fender bender are we. AND it’s NOT Tiger’s car. There will be a police report and the owner of the car will file.

Not a rental per se. It was a promo car supplied by the sponsor of the golf tournament. Hyundai's premium luxury line SUV.

I believe it was a manufacturer owned vehicle.
Hyundai was the sponsor of the golf tournament.

Back in 1990 Nascar driver Robbie Moroso killed a woman (and himself) driving drunk in a GM owned Oldsmobile. That changed the structure of these sponsor deals and I assume Hyundai adopted the waivers, etc.

From TMZ

Our sources say the words “reckless driving” are not mentioned in the warrant. In fact, our sources say no specific crime is listed in the warrant.

Nevertheless, a judge is prohibited from signing a search warrant unless there’s probable cause of a crime. That’s the essence of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution.

Our law enforcement sources say examining the black box for possible reckless driving was the object of the search warrant.

______

Sounds like they were fishing

Yes, that or he was just going too fast on curved, inclined road.

If let’s say the black box reveals a sudden change of direction, that wouldn’t reveal the cause which could have been a deer darting out of the shadows, or Tiger momentarily dozing and jerking back to being awake. Easy to over-correct in either of those scenarios. He says he doesn’t remember much about what happened. I sort of doubt he was impaired, that episode was during a long layoff from golf and Tiger has been back actively playing for a while, he had a day’s work ahead of him, I think if he does succumb to stimulants at times those would be well separated from work. Just my opinion. It could have been another driver’s fault too, had he not just gone through a controlled intersection with a side street on his right? What if some jerk pulled out of that side street into his lane? He might have been swerving to avoid a collision. And that person would not have necessarily been aware of the accident they caused.

Tiger will return to some limited golf, he can afford the expensive rehab and he’s driven, there is one goal he wants to reach, breaking his current tie with legend Sam Snead for 82 wins. He’s about 45 now and has at least ten years of potential golf ahead, winning one more tournament does not seem that unlikely. Also Sam Snead holds a record for being the oldest man to win on the tour (at age 53) and that’s a record Tiger might want to take, unless Phil Mickelson extends the boundary (he’s just 51 now and still competitive). I rather doubt Tiger will win another major but you never know, winning majors is more about course management than anything else at that level. Tiger is the acknowledged champion of course management. Life management, well give him a B- on that one.

On airplanes it’s usually orange to help searchers see it but we all know orange is bad.

Maybe they didn't even need a warrant and the owner offered them the black box and the warrant was secondary but to create a trail.

Going over a cliff in the middle of the night looks like probable cause to me. It doesn't have to be a BIG crime...like drunken driving. He did hit the island.

The black box won’t indicate if this guy was under the influence of drugs/medications etc.

I’ve seen people tested for a whole lot less than what this guy did.

The car was a loaner, probably from a car dealer who was a sponsor of the event.

The police have already said that Tiger made no attempt to brake or steer prior to crashing. Unless Tiger had disabled it, that car should have tried to steer around the curve. So that’s odd, but the police know if it was disabled. Sounds like he was unconscious. The car came to a bend and Tiger nor the car acknowledged it, the car kept going straight over the median, smashing a sign and a lot more as you saw. The car didn’t try to make the bend, so Tiger must have disabled that feature. We disabled it in the wife’s SUV, lane control is very annoying on winding narrow roads and we drive a lot of those.

It would me my guess this guy is getting the celebrity treatment big league. They can’t release details of a traffic collision? The vehicle becomes totally out of control, and for hundreds of feet he’s rolling the vehicle, crashing though street signs, crashing through trees, after crossing into 2 lanes of on coming traffic?

This must be a top secret collisions. lol...

I think it was a “program car” essentially a loaner to celebs like Tiger for promotional purposes. Hence the side of the car emblazoned with the name of the manufacturer.

“the data recorder of the 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV”

Every government’s wet dream. Where you are, where you were, where you’re going, how fast you’re getting there. And just out of the blue here is Pete Bootygag with the Biden Mileage Tax plan. I’ll be keeping my 20 year old beater thank you very much. And any required GPS will be placed on my dog’s collar. My odometer doesn’t work.

Of course there is always the possibility of a mechanical/electrical or computer malfunction. And if this turns out to be the case here I wouldn’t be too surprised. Newer vehicles are overly engineered, with way too much electronic gizmos, sensors, computers etc. They’ve become computers with wheels.
