Tucker: Matt Gaetz sexual allegation interview 'one of weirdest' he's done
The Hill ^ | 03/31/21 07:51 AM EDT | BY THOMAS MOORE

Posted on 03/31/2021 7:03:07 AM PDT by RandFan

Tucker Carlson on Tuesday called his interview of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) one of the oddest in his career after inviting the congressman on his show to discuss an investigation he is facing for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old.

“If you just saw our Matt Gaetz interview, that was one of the weirdest interviews I have ever conducted,” Carlson said to his viewers after the segment on his Fox News show “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

On Tuesday news broke that the Department of Justice was investigating whether Gaetz “had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him,” three sources briefed on the probe told The New York Times.

Gaetz, in an Axios story later that day, denied the allegations but confirmed that he was under investigation.

Gaetz said that the accusations were part of an “extortion effort against my family for $25 million ... in exchange for making this case go away.”

He repeated those allegations on Carlson’s show.

“I know that there was a demand for money in exchange for a commitment that he could make this investigation go away along with his co-conspirators,” Gaetz told Carlson.

“They even claimed to have specific connections inside the Biden White House,” he added. “Now, I don’t know if that’s true. They were promising that Joe Biden would pardon me. Obviously, I don’t need a pardon. I’m not seeking a pardon. I have not done anything improper or wrong.”

Gaetz suggested the extortion plot could be tied to attempts to damage him politically, pointing to the fact that after news of the investigation broke, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) asked that Gaetz be suspended from the House Judiciary Committee.

“But what I am troubled by is the real motivation for all of this,” Gaetz said to Carlson. “You know, just tonight, Ted Lieu, a Democrat, was calling on me to be removed from the House Judiciary Committee. I believe we are in an era of our politics now, Tucker, where people are smeared to try to take them out of the conversation.”

Gaetz told Carlson there have been similar attempts to use law enforcement to intimidate him, something he said the host should be aware of since it came up while Carlson and Gaetz were at dinner together once.

“I can say that actually, you and I went to dinner about two years ago, your wife was there, and I brought a friend of mine, you will remember her,” Gaetz said. “And she was actually threatened by the FBI, told that if she wouldn’t cop to the fact that somehow I was involved in some pay-for-play scheme that she could face trouble. And so I do believe that there are people at the Department of Justice who are trying to smear me.”

Carlson said he had no recollection of that event.

“I don’t remember the woman you are speaking of or the context at all, honestly,” Carlson said.

It was clear, after the segment ended, that Carlson was nonplussed by the interview he had just conducted.

“That story just appeared in the news a couple of hours ago, and on the certainty that there is always more than you read in the newspaper, we immediately called Matt Gaetz and asked him to come on and tell us more, which, as you saw, he did,” Carlson said about the interview. “I don’t think that clarified much, but it certainly showed this is a deeply interesting story, and we will be following it. Don’t quite understand it, but we will bring you more when we find out.”

Gaetz’s public statements about extortion on Carlson’s show and elsewhere may only make things worse for him, said one of the New York Times reporters who broke the story.

“You would think that he would be wanting to work with the FBI and you would think he would want to keep this quiet,” Katie Benner, who covers the Justice Department for the Times, said in an appearance on “The Rachel Maddow Show.”

“So you have to put this all into context and say that in doing this and basically blowing up an FBI investigation into people trying to extort his family, you know, he has both complicated that investigation and also cast aspersions on something that was serious enough that Attorney General [William] Barr approved it," Benner added.

The misinformation is getting thick.

Congressman Geatz WAS working with the FBI right up until they used their embeds in the press to sabotage their own investigation.

The hammer was set to come down on the people trying to smear Geatz today.

The unsourced Times story blew that up.

Now the DOJ people implicated in this are free and only the FBI knows what really happened.

If he did nothing wrong then keeping it quiet adds to people feeling like he has something to hide.

If he did something wrong then it doesn’t matter what he does.

Either way, I saw a portion of the interview. It was weird and Gaetz did not seem to confident about things.

If you’re in a position like he is and as outspoken as he is, you best tread very lightly in absolutely everything you do.

The Morning Report 3/31/21

Good morning, kids. Wednesday and while my blood is already boiling about other crucial things that are turning the remains of this nation into a vast gulag with bits and bytes instead of barbed wire to seal us in (and there will no doubt be barbed wire and mass graves before we come out the other end of this nightmare, if we come out the other end of this nightmare), now we are confronted with an attempt to take out Rep. Matt Gaetz. In his own words:

“Over the past several weeks my family and I have been victims of an organized criminal extortion involving a former DOJ official seeking $25 million while threatening to smear my name,” Gaetz’s original statement reads. “We have been cooperating with federal authorities in this matter and my father has even been wearing a wire at the FBI’s direction to catch these criminals.”

“The planted leak to the FBI tonight was intended to thwart that investigation,” he continued. “No part of the allegations against me are true, and the people pushing these lies are targets of the ongoing extortion investigation. I demand the DOJ immediately release the tapes, made at their direction, which implicate their former colleague in crimes against me based on false allegations.”

Gaetz was on TuCa’s show last night and actually named some ex-DOJ cancer, David McGee, as one of the stooges in the extortion scheme. Naturally, McGee denied the allegations by stating “This is a blatant attempt to distract from the fact that Matt Gaetz is apparently about to [be] indicted for sex trafficking underage girls.”

I’ve already given this crap way more real estate than it deserves, but considering the parties involved, and considering the Biden Junta is hell bent on wiping us out at home while letting the Chi-Coms and Iranians take care of the rest of the world, they need a good distraction. Especially with Trump no longer the convenient Emanuel Goldstein. Matt Gaetz is young, good looking and over the past half year or so as has shown himself to be a well-spoken, Trumpist firebrand. He’s also from Florida, which is becoming a thorn in the Junta’s side, given the state prevented itself from having its election results stolen last November and is thriving after dumping the phony lockdown garbage. That clues you in as to who the next impending target will be: Ron DeSantis. Having leadership at the state level willing to invoke nullification of illegal, anti-Constitutional edicts from DC and, if need be, go right up to the line of secession (and cross over), is perhaps the only non-violent means of thwarting our enslavement and destruction. Can’t have that now, can they?

Considering the nature of the GOP-e, I fully expect Kevin “Charlie” McCarthy, Liz-ard Cheney, Pee-Air Defecto, Mitch McChinless and the rest of the Potemkin patriots to have a case of the vapors and call for Gaetz to step down. I hope he doesn’t, and I’ll even say this. All things considered, if Gaetz is actually guilty of the charges, I wouldn’t give a shit. Given how the FBI and DOJ have a history of acting as the Left’s personal Gestapo to crush its rivals and protect its members, and how they have proven themselves to be utterly useless in preventing jihadists and other real criminals from inflicting pain and death on us, and how when Democrats screw every underage Dominican puta, Epstein teen sex slave, Barney Fagg catamite, or ugly Chinese Fang-Fang-Bang-Bang under the sun or in a House cloakroom, while screwing over the American people, I’d give Gaetz a pass. That is of course assuming he is actually guilty of an actual crime. And all things considered, I strongly doubt that.

Meanwhile in another part of the forest, the story that got me insane in the brain is our alleged Secretary of State Tony “Blinkered Ignoramus” Blinken blinking first to the Chi-Coms with an incredibly disastrous statement:

We will hear from some countries [such as China ], as we do other years, that we have no right to criticize them because we have our own challenges to deal with. Well, we know we have work to do at home that includes addressing profound inequities, including systemic racism.

We don’t pretend these problems don’t exist or try to sweep them under the rug. We don’t ignore them. We deal with them in the daylight with full transparency.

As I stated, absolutely disastrous but one that is completely understandable given who he is and who his fellow travelers are. How could Blinken refute the charges that the country which he allegedly represents on the world stage is inherently racist, white supremacist and illegitimate when that blood libel is the basis for his party’s existence and the pretext to rule? Spoiler alert: he can’t. Had he not slimed his own country in front of these Mongoloids and the world, the entire Leftist narrative being rammed down our throats and up our keisters 25/8/366 would collapse. Totally understandable. Utterly despicable.

Sounds like Tucker didn’t believe him.

I don’t blame Tucker for having reservations. It would be foolish of him to stake his credibility on that activities of one person.

Gaetz jumped at the opportunity to defend himself. We’ll see how it plays out. I certainly don’t trust anyone associated with the DOJ.

Ted Lieu must be the dumbest member of congress there is; right next to pelosi......If Gaetz has the proof, McGee is toast and needs to be kicked out of gov’t service permanently.

EXACTLY!

It does not make any sense to trust and work with FIB.

As I noted in my earlier post, AG Barr (the traitor) approved the investigation.

It’s an obvious Hit piece - Gaetz is still talking about Hunter.

That’s his crime.

” enough that Attorney General [William] Barr approved it”

So, it IS, in fact, a Bagpipe Barr anti-Trump Operation.

Ted likes Swallowell.

He also chases the commie Jungwo Tail as much as he can.

Matt just is too effective at kicking Lieu in the ass.

Matt's just not kicking him hard enough IMHO.

The Mamet Principle* in full blown flight!

1) Matt Gaetz did cooperate with the FBI
2) Matt Gaetz wanted to keep this quiet - at least until the last pieces of evidence had been gathered.
3) It was the NYT who broke the story and blew up the investigation.

Ms Benner knows all this, but she is a liberal and pretends not to know the facts. Shame on her.

“...does being a wealthy politician give these men such egos that they have to multiple sex partners to show how important and powerful they are?”

Are you kidding? Multiple sex partners is the goal of most men since the dawn of history. No power or importance or ego needed.

“Morals still matter, or at least they should.”

Yes they do, but the type of thing he is [ACCUSED] of is extremely typical among politicians and benign when placed up against their other vices. Has there ever been any action taken against the two lovebirds in the FBI who were violating their oath of office and their marriage vows while investigating Trump for his alleged violation of his oath of office?

The hypocrisy of this is sickening. The snake Bill Barr let the FBI lovebirds skate, but jumped all over Gaetz at the merest accusation.

Let’s assume that Gaetz had nothing to do romantically / sexually with any 17 year-old. That’s great, I have no problem believing that until proven otherwise. But if he is totally innocent, why did he start making noises about resigning from Congress? And why was he subject to a blackmail attempt if he had nothing to hide?

After more than twenty years, I completely quit watching Fox News before the “election.”

Tucker’s apparent histrionic personality disorder finally got on my nerves a bit too much.

Not to mention Brett’s smirk. He’s a real putz.

Real America’s Voice and occasional Newsmax for me now. Free on Pluto TV and elsewhere.

Catch Bannon’s podcasts too.

It is amazing how many of us have a first reaction of withdrawing support from one of our fighters.

When are we going to learn that this is a wrong reaction?

Does it matter if it’s true? In fact, right now, as fodder for our first reaction, no.

Spot on. They don’t call the GOP the surrender party for nothing. Right now the surrender caucus is busy throwing Gaetz under the bus because his brand of aggressive conservatism makes them deeply uncomfortable. They have no stomach for this political brawl and would rather surrender to Democrats than engage them.

Who has nothing to hide?

You don’t know what they have to hide until they come under attack.

They only come under attack when they are being effective.

Gaetz shot the legs off of this story going any further, right Katie ?>>. and ruined their corrupt paycheck covering the fake story leaked out piecemeal over the next several months when ever they needed a diversion from Biteme falling asleep during a presser.

People here run hot and cold over Carlson.

That's because carlson is sometimes good and sometimes crappy.

I watched the interview last night, and tucker pretended not to understand the story, and then pretended not to remember having dinner with Matt and some woman.

I call bullshit on both counts.

Any nitwit could understand exactly what Matt was saying, tucker was treading water, and took no position.

Wet finger, high in the air, check out which way the wind is blowing.

No guts.

from the story...
“I can say that actually, you and I went to dinner about two years ago, your wife was there, and I brought a friend of mine, you will remember her,” Gaetz said. “

They did not clarify that the woman was the 17-year old in question.

If it was, is this young woman a Florida resident, and if so, what is she doing up north at a dinner with Carlson, who was obviously not in Florida for the (now alleged) dinner?
