Oregon man pulls gun on Antifa mob who trashed cars to stop ‘Freedom Rally’
Dramatic video shows the moment a man pulls a gun on Antifa protesters as they clashed with demonstrators taking part in a “Freedom Rally” near the Oregon state Capitol on Sunday.
The older man — wearing an American flag sweatshirt — was filmed in Salem initially getting out of his pickup truck to survey the damage allegedly caused by the Antifa mob.
He initially appeared calm as the counter-protesters dressed all in black surrounded and mocked him, with some threateningly aiming canisters at him throughout the confrontation.
But the squabble took an ugly turn after he was either sprayed in the face or struck with an object — prompting him to flinch and draw his weapon on the crowd.
“Get away from me!” he shouted, yanking a handgun from his waistband and cocking it as he aimed it toward the leftist activists.
As the mob screamed about his loaded gun, an armed officer quickly approached and forced the driver to the ground, with a large force of riot police quickly swarming the scene.

The police probably saved him from the antifa brats...
I believe that caption more than your BS...
You are in Tennesee...I am in Oregon...things aren’t always as published...and I may be wrong but I’m tired of generalizations.
I research and read about police misconduct all the time. What I continually see disgusts me.
I’m 100% for police reform and make zero apologies for it.
No knock warrants, checkpoints, property seizure laws, qualified immunity, war on drugs—all needs changed.
New videos posted daily of police misconduct on youtube even when they know they’re being filmed. Time for a huge reckoning.
So the cops were close enough to immediately subdue a man defending himself with a gun, but they’re not close enough to stop vandals from damaging personal property? I’m sure the FBI is collecting video and photos, so they can go after the white wing extremists in the caravan.
“That makes it completely justified. When a mob is actually physically attacking you, simply drawing the weapon isn’t the only thing justified.”
Can you brandished a weapon in self defense? I know you can fire a gun in self defense when you are in fear of your life.
My understanding in some places you better shoot if you have a need to pull the weapon.
Alrighty then /s.
“ Oregon State Police Capt. Tim Fox said on Sunday night that the man who brandished a gun had not yet been arrested, and that officers were investigating that case.”
“Detained”. Big difference. I’m not saying he may not yet face charges, but it was a dangerous situation...right up UNTIL he chambered a round.
I saw that also...”Had not YET been arrested”...
Then I saw under the photo that he HAD been arrested...
In Kentucky, you can shoot to kill if a reasonable person would fear “serious physical harm”.
And this was put to the test just a few years ago. The shooter shot and killed a man with a baseball bat hitting his car’s windshield. He was found not guilty.
And here’s the punch line: the shooter started it. But the batter escalated it from words to violence, so it was on him.
This is why you don’t see cases like this in Kentucky. With a crowd and him being hit by a thrown object (assuming it was something hard and heavy) he would have had the right to discharge his weapon in the direction from which the object came.
When the antifa communists sprayed his truck with yellow paint, why did the police sit idly by and not step in? They seem to want to provoke the right wingers into violence. The police should not be their if they won’t get involved.
We’re you there
Police said more than 100 left-wing protesters — many linked to the Youth Liberation Front — turned up to “prevent the Freedom Rally caravan” that was planning to meet at the Capitol. The mob is accused of damaging vehicles, including the alleged gunman’s, which was covered in yellow spray paint and had its windows smashed.
Most were “wearing black clothing and ballistic vests and carrying firearms, bats, skateboards, umbrellas, shields and gas masks,” police said.
Yet the man whose truck was vandalized and who was sprayed with probably pepper spray took it upon himself to protect his property and his own well being was put to the ground by police...
Only three of the “more than 100 left-wing protesters” were arrested...Were the other 97 or more “mostly peaceful” protesters?????
I live on the central California coast and will move when my mom passes. Kentucky has been at the top of my list lately and your comment definitely helps. At this point I’m looking for a few acres and found some possibilities, just want to check some things out first.
the cop that rolled up to the situation doesn’t initially know what happened, common sense says get whoever has a gun drawn to stand down or in this case get down on the ground until he could figure out what happened...
I call it “The garden of eden, but with more chiggers.”
And bugs are an issue.
But I still love it. Just wear bug spray if you are wondering through a field of tall grass and you’ll be fine.
Not disagreeing with your statement, but one does have to ask, since the cop rolled up very quickly to the incident, why were they holding back to the vehicle attacks and vandalism taking place by the instigators of violence? Seems they did arrest a few of the Antifas but the tolerance by LEO for the lawless behavior is dumbfounding.
EXACTLY
If Oregon doesn’t get Antifa under control soon those who own the night will be showing up then they will have a mess huge on their hand like they never expected.
The public is getting pushed to far for to long it becoming a lawless land in some places blue states own that problem and they keep cutting the police forces liberals in action.
This is systemic oppression - that police will not protect you when you’re attacked by a lynch mob.
Same thing happens to Christians in Shariah regimes like Egypt and Pakistan.
