Mayo? WTF?
I grew up close to Revere Beach. All through my childhood, we would occasionally drive past Kelly’s Roast Beef. Insane lines every single time. I never ate there. My family never tried to eat there. It seemed like waiting in a line at Disney World — for what? A roast beef sandwich? People are stupid.
Easy answer, coming from a south shore resident, is .... this is all they have
Kelly’s etc.; claims to have invented it..one BBQ place, Rusty Nail
in Byfield just off I-95, makes their
own version of a “classic 3 way”
Essex County MA also claims the invention
of fried clams (Woodman’s, Essex)..both can taste pretty damn good though clams
can be expensive.Kelly’s, various
locations, has fried clams and fried
scallops too.
The best roast beef sandwich?
Beef on Weck.... From the city that gave us chicken wings... Buffalo.
I like going to a Greek restaurant for their Gyros type sandwich. I know that beef is always going to be well done. I’m not a fan of pink, chewy meat ever. They use Pita Bread.
Nope, needs to be on a kimmelweck roll.
Beef on Weck.
You have not lived until you’ve had a Buffalo Beef on Weck, from Charlie the Butcher’s.
With curly-q fries and a loganberry.
MMMMMMMMM...........
I am getting hungry, and I have to have fish today. Where I am going has very good fish, but still...
The 3-way sandwich was named after Ted Kennedy.
I was expecting the wedding story to be about an argument over who had the better roast beef.
I am a Mass refuge and every timre I go back to see mom, I always eat roast beef sandwiches at every oportunity. I love the south and East Carolina BBQ, but I love Mass roast beef sandwiches!
I got a really good Roast Beef joint right in the center of town here in SE MA.

Cause no one had ever before sliced roasted meat and eaten it on bread.
Was on vacation in Edinburgh, Scotland back in 2008, an older couple had a Nick’s bumper sticker taking a photo, if you visit Nick’s they have photos from all over including Mt Everest.
Nick’s is ok but I like Billy’s in Wakefield, super roast beef on an onion roll and horseradish sauce, the best evah !
Pit Beef in Maryland. I like it rare with bbq sauce and some horseradish. Chap’s Pit Beef is good. The original is at 5801 Pulaski Hwy, Baltimore, MD 21205.
