The Obamas have a house up there. I recommend they spend a lot of time there and take advantage of the sparkling beauty of the ocean.

Shallow water?
We’re gonna need a smaller boat.

I’ve often wondered if Provincetown attracted sharks like Sodom attracted Brimstone

About 5 years ago we took a company charter out fishing for stripers off Provincetown.

One of the persons lived in TRURO the next town to P Town. We were vey close to where he told me 2 years earlier he encountered a white shark while diving for lobsters in that area, and since has never dived there since. He was that afraid.

At that time White sharks were known to be after the seals on the easterly ocean side of Cape Cod, but we were on the Westerly Boston/ Plymouth side. They are now found on both sides and spreading out.-Tom

In the weeks before the 11th of September, 2001, the media was focused on Gary Condit and shark attacks. Not sure why I remembered that now.

And, who would’ve believed the hunting for food is better in shallow water?

“Why do they do this?”

Can’t you feel ‘em circlin’, honey
Can’t you feel ‘em schoolin’ around
You got fins to the left, fins to the right
And you’re the only bait in town
You got fins to the left, fins to the right
And you’re the only girl in town

This story is mixing 2 different sharks: Bull sharks (which tend to hunt in shallows hence a threat to beachgoers), and Great Whites (a deep water shark) Has a Great White ever come inside the surf line? Sure, but that’s not where the seal hunting is really good. Usually they’re lurking around a spot where the water gets deep rapidly and they can silhouette their target against the surface.

Swimmers probably have less to worry about from GW’s, but it I were a surfer or a kayak-er, I’d be on the lookout (as much good as that will do for you).

Check out this lady who enjoys removing hooks from the mouths of sharks. She runs quite the underwater operation. They go back and tell their buddies and next thing you know, they’re lining up.
