Well don't, because there are many blacks that agree with you.
This black guy who I used to work with, who has sadly passed away, said to me once:
"I was talking to some of my black friends and they were complaining about white people who cross to the other side of the street when they see a group of young black men coming towards them. I told them, I can see their point, because quite frankly I am on edge when a group of young black males are coming towards me."
Now that quote is probably not verbatim, but it is in essence what he said.
“There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps... then turn around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”
― Jesse Jackson
I appreciate your honesty.
In my neighborhood, there is a black guy that walks through my street going from here to there.
He is trouble.
I remember being a teenager in 1984 and walking down the street toward the Post Office. Three Black yoots were approaching me, but I kept on the same side. We ended up violently shoulder-bumping as we passed each other, and they went on their way, yelling epithets back at me.
Nowadays, If I didn’t cross, I would probably be dead.
