A bigger boar with tusks might have made it a more equal fight, a couple of gashes with from those tusks might have caused the bear to back off...

Got bear and hog around the house quite often in the spring through fall but never see them fighting. Some of the hogs are pretty damn big though. Getting warmer so the bears should start coming round.
