I grew up between Philly and NYC. I have tried the cheesesteaks from the major players- Pat's, Geno's, Jim's, Dallsandro's (Sp?) Denick's, Tony Luke's, Steve's etc. They are all good and I never get pulled into the "who is the best" debate. It's pointless because they are all good. That said, I am about to say something that will be considered sacrilege to native Philadelphians- a cheesesteak tastes better with a real cheese made from real milk like provolone than it is with chemicals and salt like Wiz. And yes, I realize I am in the minority on this one.

Whenever I am out of town or out of the country for and extended period of time and I fly out of Philly I always hit an authentic cheesesteak joint on the drive home

Spot-on, my FRiend!

In my neighborhood there was NEVER an option for Wiz. Typically, it was American or Provolone. My go-to was a PizzaSteak...Provolone, wit and tomato sauce...nothin better.
