That's my point. Background checks rarely stop mass murderers. The vast majority of modern high profile mass shooters passed a background check to acquire the firearm they used to commit mass murder. There is no law you can pass that will stop them.

I think that's the point they're making.

They don't have much of an impact on your garden variety murderers/criminals either as they are not likely to acquire a gun through legal channels.
