The alleged gunman charged with slaughtering 10 people at a Colorado supermarket bought a gun a week prior to the shooting — and was caught “playing” with it by a family member, according to new court documents.
Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa purchased a Ruger AR-556 pistol on March 16 — six days before going on a deadly rampage at the King Soopers in Boulder, according to an affidavit unsealed Tuesday.
His sister-in-law, whose name is redacted, told investigators that she saw Alissa, 21, “playing with a firearm she thought looked like a ‘machine gun'” in the days prior to the shooting, the court papers say.
“Alissa had been talking about having a bullet stuck in the gun and was playing with the gun,” the affidavit reads.

I saw them go from ‘evil white trump supporter’ to ‘mental health - we need gun control’ in a flash such that it gave me whiplash. They moved from a white guy with agency to a muslim. They apparently assume all muslims are afflicted with mental health issues who are not capable of handling guns responsibly.
You are right what he shot was not an “assault rifle” it is a semi automatic short barreled rifle missing the stock and with a “pistol brace” instead to skirt the ATF tax stamp law. But you are wrong real assault rifles do exist
The StG 44 literally known as the Sturmgewehr 44 which in English translates to assault rifle 44 is a select fire rifle from WW2 firing a intermediate power level cartridge designed to be light weight to allow an individual Stoßtruppen lit. Storm trooper to carry much more ammo than a full weight battle rifle would allow. The key points are select fire with a full automatic setting and high capacity magazines to allow for that full auto to be effectively used. Battle rifles had 6 to 8 round magazines and the StG44 was 30 or more. So any intermediate power and high capacity select fire rifle such as the M4A3 is by definition an assault rifle. Without select fire a rifle CANNOT BE an assault rifle in the military sense. Politicians can word laws how they like but to a military unit an assault rifle is a specific item.

I don’t get bout in the woods much anymore. I’m lucky to get to the rifle range. I have a DPMS Gen II Recon with a 16” barrel that shoots remarkably well, especially after I switched out the trigger group and installed an AGB. It was most accurate with 168 grain AMAXs (subMOA) but they were so slow-like less than 2,000 fps IIRC. I was disgusted with that velocity and having some 6.5 envy so I started working up a load with 125 grain Nosler Ballistic tips. I got them up to 3,000 fps with a below max charge of Ramshot tac. I wish they were a little more frangible but they have a better ballistic coefficient than any of the varminter projectiles so they’re the projectile I went with. 3,000 fps with a 125 grain projectile from a 16 barrel. Not too shabby in my opinion. They aren’t quite as accurate as the 168 grain AMAX (about 1-1.25 MOA) but I have room to work up to the next accuracy node.
I had thought that DU might have morphed into Twitter but I guess it’s more accurate to say that twitter morphed into DU. It leads me to believe that the whole country will morph into DU if this leftist agenda isn’t checked. They’ll be sending mods to our houses to deliver our tombstones.
They don’t want background checks to permit any sales. They want to ban firearms and this week they are saying “These weapons must be banned”.

Well, they can’t ban guns because of the 2A. They can try to ban some guns but they’ll fail and it still won’t prevent a determined mass murderer. It won’t even slow him down. In fact, much like when they tried to end the meth crisis by making us sign for cold medicine, they’ll just make an already bad situation worse because they don’t know crap about guns, bullets, external ballistics, terminal ballistics, etc. They just know politics.
