I don't understand. he passed a background check and was still able to get a gun? And not just any background check but a brand new super duty Fix NICS background check? How is this possible? Could it be that gun control laws don't really work as advertised?

If Ahmad was never arrested before, he could pass background checks all day long. A Muslim name will not flunk background check. Domestic violence of any sorts will if cops were called.

He had a couple of charges. But were not felonies. So yeah he passed a background check. May have had to wait the 3 days if he didn’t if no concealed. If he ordered the gun and had to wait a week for it to come in, I don’t know if that counted towards his 3 days. He somehow found ammo either before or after he got the gun. I wonder if he had other guns. I heard he had 2 guns but only heard it one time from the media. If he drove there did they find anything in his car.

That's my point. Background checks rarely stop mass murderers. The vast majority of modern high profile mass shooters passed a background check to acquire the firearm they used to commit mass murder. There is no law you can pass that will stop them.
I think that's the point they're making.
They don't have much of an impact on your garden variety murderers/criminals either as they are not likely to acquire a gun through legal channels.

Doesn’t have to be a citizen, perm residence is all you need for a 4472 form and refugees are all nearly 100% given perm residence as a matter of course in being a refuge we NEVER send them home. So likely he was a green card holder and with no prior felony or domestic violence convictions able to pass form 4472.
