An Arizona man has been arrested after he cut off and held at gunpoint a caravan of National Guardsmen transporting COVID-19 vaccines to Matador, Texas around 7 a.m. this morning, according to Idalou Police.
Larry Harris, of Willcox, Arizona, is accused of following three National Guardsmen vans from Love’s Travel Station on East Regis Street in Lubbock to about two miles east of Idalou. Police say Harris attempted multiple times to run the vans off of the roadway. He then turned his vehicle into oncoming traffic on Hwy. 62/82 and stopped the vans. He then pointed a gun at an unarmed National Guardsman, identified himself as a detective, and demanded to search the vehicles and ordered the rest of the unarmed guardsmen out of their vehicles at gunpoint.
Harris told police he thought the people in the vans had kidnapped a woman and child. All 11 of the guardsmen were in uniform.

Does the NG or Army arm their medics?

Good question. No way they should have been without sidearms!

When I was in Germany we were issued full combat loads (I was a M-60 gunner) on a QRF in case the last remaining chemical weapons depots being deactivated were attacked. Also,a Sgt and I (Spec.4) were issued .45s for prison escort duty to Mannheim.
Stateside in the Regular Army and NG we never issued ammo outside of a range. It is really disgusting soldiers are not to be trusted even with private firearms in a duty station let alone having the ability to protect ourselves on special duty, riots or other emergencies. I doubt Biden's NG circus has any ammo but what do I know? I am happily out of that mess for a while now.

Time to arm the national Guard.

I can’t believe they weren’t issued standard sidearms. But I don’t know SOP for this kind of duty.
They can't be loaded.

I don’t even trust Wallyworld to keep them stored at sub zero. No telling how long some black market vax would be expired.

It is an alternate universe where one lone gunman holds 11 soldiers hostage.

Pershing battalions had an attached infantry platoon. One squad was on status at the quick reaction alert (armed nuclear weapons) site at all times, plus the missile battery personnel who were also armed at all times with M-16 or side arms. There was always one missile battery and one squad of infantry at the site.

At Anniston Army depot state side we were issued full battle.rattle guarding the special weapons being incinerated there in the 90s we even had the red lines painted on the deck where lethal force was not only authorized it was mandatory for a breach. We all had those crap Berettas and some of us had the the brand new M4s as a squad leader I had a M203 with DP 40mm rounds should a vehicle need to be engaged.
