Your LDL is over 200? That is quite high. I think >70 triggers medication. Perhaps ask your Doc about low carb? Low carb is what helped me get lipids under control. My total cholesterol is 97 and LDL is 45. Those numbers have not varied for over 3 years now.

IMO, the medical community is still clinging to the fallacy that dietary fat = high cholesterol. Every time I go to the Doc, they still ask me “do you eat a low cholesterol diet?” “No ma’am.” Funny thing, they are all about lab numbers until you achieve them without following their advice.

No, my total cholesterol is over 200. I might have mixed that up. Borderline high TOTAL cholesterol is 200-239. High total cholesterol is 240 or over. Mine falls around 230 when I’m not exercising and a little below 200 when I am. Now, your HDL should be high to be good. Mine is 60+. It’s supposed to be 40-60+. My Triglycerides are normal. That’s the one that goes high when you eat too many carbs. I don’t eat red meat, sugary stuff, chips, cookies, or anything good. Any way you look at it, the LDL is running my total up. The LDL is the only one that is genetically bad in my case. A friend of mine with the same genetic condition said that there is a coronary calcium x-ray you can do to check your heart. Her heart is clear so she doesn’t worry about her LDL. Her Triglycerides and HDL are both good too.

There is a heart disease ratio that figures all of those together to give you your heart disease risk. It’s supposed to be between 0-5.0. I’m a 3.5 so I’m OK but not great.

It gets a lot better when I’m able to walk and ride the bike, which I haven’t been able to do in two years. My PT says she can get me back to riding and walking short distances but it will take a while. None of my ultrasounds have shown any buildup in the arteries.
