What we're seeing now is modern liberalism reaching the end of the line.
Out-of-control cancel culture, borders open again to illegal immigration, and the Democrat majorities in Congress attempting to impose one-party rule on the country are nothing less than the symptoms of a dying ideology, a contemporary liberalism that has reached its logical conclusion and is ditching what used to work and is instead imposing its radical will and agenda on the entire country. Beginning in the Sixties when a radical form of liberalism emerged, it has been constantly on the prowl for the next victim class to feed its voracious appetite by preying on their sense of victimhood.
First, beginning with Lyndon Johnson and his “Great Society,” it devoured African-Americans through welfare state programs that utterly failed in their original mission. This has served as the template for liberalism ever since in its attempt to capture every possible demographic (except white males) by pandering to their sense of victimhood in a country supposedly seething with bigots and sexists. If you belong to a specific race, gender, or ethnic group that thinks they've been marginalized and discriminated against, vote for a Democrat and your sense of victimhood will magically disappear. The Left has burned through virtually every demographic starting with blacks, followed by women, gays, Hispanics, Muslims, and now transgenders over the course of the last 50 years.

The author is mostly wrong. Yes, classical liberalism is dead. That was the ideology that promoted free speech and human rights. That ideology gone.
Unfortunately, its replacement is “progressive” fascism.
My fear is that this type of fascism will become the new normal. For example, we here on FR are appalled by the cancel culture. But thanks to the media, perhaps our children and grandchildren will come to accept it. “Of course they had to fire that guy. Ten years ago he said something offensive.”

Wrong - it emerged in 1917 with the Russian Revolution and was established in 1922 with the formation of the USSR. Prior to that ‘liberalism’ had a different and benign meaning.
“Liberalism” is an euphemism for socialism. As long as you keep calling it “liberal”, which it isn’t, they will continue to thrive and find followers.
Call it what is is. Every day, until everyone understands its true nature. Only then it will go away.

The "Liberalism" that took over in the 1960s ruled by controlling the flow of information, thus controlling the politicians, by directing what issues were important and what politicians (on the national stage) were acceptable.
That Liberalism became more and more extreme.
That Liberalism has had to resort to more and more blatant lies because they no longer have the credibility they had. Half the country does not believe their propaganda any more.
So.. either that anti-US liberalism dies or the Country as any sort of limited, Constitutional order, dies.
The demand for Constitutional order has risen as the lies have been exposed.
In the 1930s, there was *no* demand for Constitutional order. It is how we got the FDR revolution.
In the 1960s, because of the anti-US turn of liberalism, a resurgence of respect for the Constitution started up. Liberalism and the Constitution cannot co-exist.

The Atlanta hooker shooting is being spun to incite Asians in to joining the Democrat victimhood parade. They are the last demographic not on board (besides the hated white male).
Wokeism isn't the normal or even necessary path to communism, though it's certainly the path that the Democrats seem to have chosen in the U.S.
The problem for those who wish to implement communism in the U.S. is that they have to get the implementation accomplished before Wokeism veers off into insanity (as defined by the Democrats, not common sense Americans).
What is particularly interesting is that, in the Alaska summit last week, even China has begun to point out the inane extremes of Wokeism and how wacky America is becoming. Keep in mind that China always acts according to a well-thought out plan. In fact, China has already begun to say that the U.S. form of Democracy (Wokeism Democracy) is inferior to China's form of Democracy (Social Democracy wrapped around a totalitarian government).

Absolutely right. This is not liberalism at all. The patients in the asylum have co-opted the term for whatever the hell their ideology is (I call it Wokeism).
