U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said that he had the pleasure of eating spicy Korean tofu stew during his trip to Seoul this week, in an apparent show of affection for Korean cuisine and culture.
On Thursday, Blinken wrapped up his two-day trip to Korea, which was part of the Joe Biden administration's first Cabinet-level overseas trip meant to highlight its priority to "reinvigorate and modernize" democratic alliances against a recalcitrant North Korea and an assertive China.
"I remembered how delicious the Sundubu-jjigae tasted back in 2016 on my trip to Seoul," he tweeted Thursday. "I am so glad I was able to enjoy it again during this visit.
Sundubu-jjigae is a Korean stew made with soft tofu as a key ingredient.
Senior U.S. officials like former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun have shown their affection for Korean dishes sometimes by visiting local traditional restaurants during their trips here ― apparently as part of public diplomacy. (Yonhap)
Man that stuff is as hot as hell but boy oh boy is it ever delicious!
Go for the blood cube, you panty waist...
Funny, I thought he would be into Chinese food.
Yukkejan a much better choice though.
You could make an old army boot taste good in those spices.
Foreign leaders are probably having a hard time actually believing that America is in fact being governed by delusional, agitated wimps.
“Winkin’” (Harris), “Blinkin’” (SecState), and “Nod” (Biden)...what a mess.
My thoughts exactly. I regard bibimbap, and especially the bulgogi bibimbap, as the latest addition to the list of Great American Cuisine, right up there with cheeseburgers, pizza and kung pao chicken. The world is indebted to the U.S. for perfecting these dishes. But tofu has no place in non-penal diets.
I love Yukkejan, but that is more of a soup
probably listens to Seoul music too; perhaps he’ll find his Seoulmate, while the rest of us have to Incheon with our lives
Seriously, I’ll have the tofu... LOL!!
Unless that's the outcome they wanted...
:)
What? No hot dogs?
Off to a roiling start is he?

Yep, clear sailing for them. Nothing better than having a weak opponent.
Many korean enjoy hot dog..
Bibimbap is more like American sushi than Japanese sushi, so it isn’t surprising that it is catching on, along with bulgogi—my future SIL had kimchee-flavored pork bulgogi the last time we went to the Tampa Korean/sushi restaurant, I stuck with the basic beef bulgogi myself.
He should have been summarily fired after getting shellacked in Alaska a few days ago.

He was absolutely bitch slapped by the Chinese negotiator who humiliated him.
