What are the conditions that cause a rebellion?
American Thinker ^ | 21 Mar, 2021 | Robert Arvay

Oppressed societies do not automatically rebel. Perhaps contrary to intuition, oppressed populations have a tendency to keep their heads down. Despite their misery, they continue their increasingly dismal lives, until something shocks them into action.

The United States did not automatically rebel against the tyranny of King George. As the Declaration of Independence tells us, "all experience has shown, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable[.]" And suffer the colonists did, for many years, complaining and protesting. The Boston Massacre occurred in 1770, and the Tea Party in 1773, but not until 1776 did the rebellion finally break out.

If we are so predisposed to long suffering, then why do rebellions occur?

Rebellions occur when three internal conditions are met, along with at least one external factor, for a total of four elements. I will list them here, not necessarily in order of importance.

There must be a leader, a population of followers, and a defining moment. These are the three internal factors. There must also be an external factor. In the American Revolution, that was the king of France, whose navy tipped the scales at Yorktown, where the British finally surrendered.

The leader must have a number of qualities, including charisma, competence, and courage. When the general public recognizes these qualities, they will follow that leader to the gates of Hell, but only when the other conditions are met.

The second factor, the followers, are already motivated before the leader appears. The Declaration of Independence describes these motivations. The description includes, "a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, [which] evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism ... a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states."

And does the Bill of Rights and Constitutional limits on government mean anything anymore?

Who in the GOP (other than Pres. Trump)
EVER acted with competence and courage?

They will forever go into history as the most
voter-backstabbing Oath-ignoring whoring baby-raping
cocaine-transporting (thank you, Kentucky bastards),
sex trafficking-protecting Obamacare-enforcing
MSM-preening LIARS in the history of politics.

The GOP are living cowardly CCP-protecting scum.

Not til we had been fighting a long time.

The fourth event would be the start of firearm confiscation on a national level.

THAT would be the Concord bridge.

If I remember correctly, not until after the victory at Saratoga.

What’s happening to us now is a case of “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop”. Soros is the devil, gathering and using his disciples.

“What are the conditions that cause a rebellion?”

Good luck with our ‘rebellion’. We just had an ‘insurrection’ for heaven’s sake and all we accomplished was having some guy in horns hang a picture of a naked black guy sitting on a bed, in the Capitol Building. And then the ‘insurrection’ ended when the ‘insurrectionists’ were told to go home for dinner (and I assume they took down the picture of the black guy and put the picture have Hamilton back up).

If that’s the best our side can do in an ‘insurrection’, then I doubt we’ll even get that far with a ‘rebellion’, which is even milder.

The France had fought England for centuries. They continued their off-and-on war even after our revolution was settled. Vichy France killed Brits in the early 1940s.

The fear of involvement played a role. :-)

“The fourth event would be the start of firearm confiscation on a national level.”

Depends how it’s done. If it’s door-to-door, with dogs to sniff out the hardware, then yes, there could well be a civil war, or something like it.

But if it’s done via making life miserable, say by having some nameless guy at treasury (in DC) punch a few buttons on his keyboard and thereby freeze or empty the bank accounts of a ‘non-complier’ in Idaho, how can the non-complier respond - by attacking his local Sheriff or something, a person who won’t even know about it, much less be in on it?

I guess people can try to fight back when that happens...but it won’t be nearly as easy as 250 years ago.

"We just had an ‘insurrection’ for heaven’s sake..."

Oh, stop. That was a group of knuckleheads, (some well-meaning) with no plan, no next phase.
Heck, there were not even any firearms involved (on the knuckleheads' side). For a group that's known (by the Left, anyways) to be bristling with guns and ammo, there was zilch.

I wouldn't use the term "insurrection" same as I wouldn't use the term "pro-choice".

Actually, as I see it, to have any type of resistance against our masters in DC, we will need outside help - maybe Mexico helping Texas, after getting fed up with all of the ‘Deplorable’ refugees streaming-in from the north, as the re-education camps open up here.

But barring outside help, I don’t imagine a scenario where Americans are able to get at least some of their freedom back, unless the Democrats in DC let up cut loose - and they will not do such, since they want to have ‘some fun’ with us in the camps, instead.

But don’t get me wrong, that outcome is far better than electing RINOs to the Senate! Right?

I’m guessing a nation’s people being the fattest, most passively entertained and least used to sustained physical labor in all of human experience aren’t any of the things that lead to rebellion.

Heck, I use the term sarcastically and you know it! But try to figure out how one carries out a real insurrection or rebellion when the enemy controls EVERYTHING, including our means of communication. Literally, everything.

Sorry, not happening.
