If he makes the NBA, I’m hoping that there were be a lot of “open mics” around to pick up what other players will say about him esp, if he doesn’t play of Sabbos.
Lots of funny jokes in the waiting if he joins the majors, esp. about other players “locking” him up on the court, in the locker room, and making lay-ups.
Can he play on the sabbath?
That goes for Christian players,moslems,Jews,atheists.
Does he kneel at games during the National Anthem?
“Former Knicks phenom Jeremy Lin, who was the first player of Chinese descent to reach the NBA...”
Once again, the New York Post proves itself to a garbage newspaper.
I seem to remember another young orthodox Jew basketball phenom. He was going to make waves with the Maryland Terps. But apparentl his inability to meet the playing schedule due to his faith caused major issues. That or he lost his touch with the basketball. Either way, he disappeared off the media radar almost as fast as he appeared.
I’m waiting for the NBA’s first openly CONSERVATIVE player!
The NY Daily News take
D-III Yeshiva University, the Orthodox Jewish institution in Washington Heights, are the hottest squad in men’s college basketball, winners of 35 consecutive games and eager for more victories, despite layers of COVID-related obstacles. Across the NCAA’s top three divisions, no men’s program currently holds a winning streak as long as the Maccabees.
It’s an unbeaten stretch now spanning two seasons, yet without the reward of an NCAA tournament, which has been canceled in D-III for a second straight year. The players have endured their own COVID infections, a wildly unpredictable schedule with practice restrictions, and a grueling dual curriculum of religion and academics. They never practice or play games during Sabbath.
That article says he hopes to play in Israel, not the NBA.
The team has a black assistant coach
Assistant coach Michael Sweetney was impressed by the atmosphere, which is validating praise coming from a man who played college ball at Georgetown and was a Knicks lottery draft pick in 2003.
can’t wait to see what he puts on his jersey ......
