I work with several EV manufacturers & charging companies.
The ferocious speed at which they are moving is insane.

Kia, Volkswagon, BMW, Mercedes are all in for the EV technology.

Infrastructure is a problem and it has caused major issues for Tesla where waits can be up to 2 hours in some places, and then you have to charge for 2 hours if you are very low.

This is currently being corrected, but the demand is incredible.

Having leased 3 previous EV’s I think they are awesome cars and very convenient when fuel prices are through the roof or supply sucks. I just wish politicians would let the market figure this out and not try to hijack the issue.

“I think they are awesome cars and very convenient when fuel prices are through the roof or supply sucks.”

And I like to play the “predict the future” game. Think the suits are just going to watch us go to cheap electricity and skip gasoline and say “man, they sure outsmarted us this time, guess we will just go broke”.
No, they’ll sodomize us on electricity rates and taxes.

If I were forced to go electric I would go for the plug in hybrids.

And just so you know if an EV was your only mode of transportation you may well have froze to death in North Texas last month. Just think about that for a second. More than 30 people froze to death in TEXAS. That's something that can only be accomplished by commies.

When everything is powered by electricity commies will control your life.

You and some others have some good and useful info. Thanks...

I recently came across some data on Tesla charging that I found interesting. There are 3 levels of Tesla charging. All this assumes the same model Tesla and a full charge from very low to full.

At other lowest level and cheapest to implement is a simple 110V extension cord in the garage. This takes about 20 hours.

The midlevel recharge system is again home based, more costly to implement and consists of a dedicated 220V circuit. This takes about 8 hours.

The high end, fast recharge is quite expensive, uses 440V electricity and will not be compatible with most residences. It will be limited to commercial charge stations. I've seen a few of these around town at shopping malls. It's a fat pylon with a charging cable and a credit card reader. The idea is to plug in, go shopping then return to a charged car. Recharge time is about 2 hours.

I'm going on a 900mi trip in a few weeks. If I had a Tesla, this would increase my pit stops for fuel by something like 50% or more each taking 1.5 hour as opposed to 10min gas stops. I often make this trip in 1 long day and sometimes overnight along the way. An EV vehicle will easily guarantee 2 full days.

My opinions....

Politicians have already hijacked the issue, by pushing it via the “global warming” lie. There is almost no demand for electric cars by the buying public.

...very convenient when fuel prices are through the roof or supply sucks...

The same can be said for gas powered vehicles when electric prices are through the roof or supply sucks.

But you're absolutely right-the government should keep its sticky fingers off this issue and let the market function as it should.
