This is harder than you might think. Space movies never get orbital mechanics right. If you want to overtake another vehicle in orbit you SLOW DOWN. This puts you in a lower orbit and you then pass the other vehicle. Then you increase velocity and move into a higher orbit. The faster you go the higher the orbit, but the higher orbit takes longer to go around the earth. Those space battles you see in Star Trek or Star Wars are impossible.

Perhaps true... but very very few Star Trek or Star Wars movies involve orbital spaceflight. Nearly all are deep space. I don’t know for sure, but i suspect the physics may be different.
