The 31-year-old Irish rider was untroubled as the 11-10 favourite streaked clear to win by six lengths. It was unbeaten Honeysuckle’s 11th successive victory.

It must be early in the morning. For some reason, I expected that she would be black. Duh! Blackmore is just her name, not her description. It’s going to be one of those days.

Must admit I heard the riffs for Lazy and Smoke On The Water in my head when I saw the title.

Don't think so. She appears to be a traditional Irish Horse Woman that moved quickly from Amateur to Professional Jockey and Grade 1 competition. Otherwise quiet and private.

Here she is on Honeysuckle in the Champion Hurdle event one of eight jumps:

For those unfamiliar with the steeple-chasing world The Cheltenham Festival is probably the biggest horse racing meeting in England. It’s a week long meeting that is usually attended by a large number of racing enthusiasts from the Republic of Ireland. Had the meeting not been closed to the public because of Covid this young ladies success on St Patrick’s day would have caused some pretty severe cases of alcoholic poisoning.

One of my top five all time guitarists.

1) Jeff Beck
2) Jimi Hendrix
3) Eric Clapner
4) Ritchie Blackmore
5) Don’t even know his name, but the guitarist for Huey Lews & News.

Looks a bit like the actress who played Wonder Woman back in the 70s.
