The single most horrific and shameful moment in our long war. There is no excuse at all for the murders of unarmed, defenseless civilians.

I fought in Vietnam for 17 months and we never shot at civilians because we understood that they were the people we were fighting for, whether they supported or opposed the enemy.

If we had had any honor at all, every single individual who pulled a trigger that day should have been court-martialed and if convicted of murder, hanged.
