Rep. Omar introduces Agenda 21

Make no mistake: It’s not about COVID relief and if it passes, landlords (and private property) are doomed.

Without respect to the fact that states have the authority to regulate housing contracts, Ilhan Omar uses a viral smokescreen to begin implementing some of the worst features of Agenda 21, the leftist promise that the government will provide affordable housing for everyone. On March 11, she introduced H.R. 1847, a bill “To suspend obligations of residential renters and mortgagors to make payments during the COVID-19 emergency, and for other purposes.” So far only a draft of the text is available.

Essentially, the bill says that real property tenants can stop paying their landlords. Our country was not founded on the moral code that one is not responsible for one’s obligations and debts. However, these socialists would make it so.

SNIP

While tenants can just withhold money, landlords must apply for relief of unpaid rent (Sec. 5). The requirements are onerous and include freezing the rent for a period of five years regardless of the market – a provision that could cut both ways. The owner must agree to rent vacant units to HUD and other tenant-assistance grantees, even if it is apparent that the tenant cannot afford usual utilities. In some localities, landlords are on the hook for unpaid utility bills in occupied dwellings.

Potential tenants cannot be rejected for their arrest and conviction history, presumably including a history of arson, running a brothel, destroying rented housing, cooking meth at home, drug dealing, or pedophilia even if the unit is across the street from a school. Too bad, landlords, when your insurance rates triple due to this law, but your ability to charge rent is still frozen.

Health care, housing and use of energy. What else is left for the government to try to control?

Sounds like what happened in Cuba in 1959.

They’re stealing your property anyway, might as well donate the complex to a church, take the tax write off, and deprive the town/state of future property taxes and deprive the IRS of future revenue as a parting gift.

Obviously, nobody is going to build and maintain any housing if this passes.
The communists had great housing ideas.
No rent rise ever. No possibility of eviction. No responsibility for tenants.
Looked great. Then the reality hit - no more new housing.
Who would built/repair/renovate housing in such situation? The only way to evict was to drive them out by filth!
People end up bunking together by dozens in tiny, deteriorating apartments. Waiting lists 20-40 years long! People sleeping in workplaces or garages.

HELL TO THE NO!! That is the government confiscating ALL property owners’ property because the owners will then not even be able to afford to pay the taxes to “keep” their property.

And HELL TO THE KNOW because it is the property owners’ RIGHTS/REQUIREMENTS to be paid rent/mortgages/etc. by the tenants, etc., and it is the owners’ and lenders’ RIGHTS/method to support themselves, etc. and/or their real estate properties/business, etc. and to be paid back, etc.

It takes a bit of digging, but lots of towns have incorporated the Agenda21 into their plans. Mine included. Which explains the huge increase of 5-story buildings with shops on the first floor and condos on the other 4.

“Starting in the 900’s”.

She got into the USA by claiming to be a member of a family that got accepted as asylum seekers. So she entered illegally and now she is trying to tear down the country she tricked to get here. I say we should send her back.

So why would anyone in their right mind rent their property, then? This would contract the available rental space market, creating more homeless.

Liberals never take the next step in logic...
