He was shockingly vulgar for the times. Then he joined the Army and after that ended up doing a bunch of B movies and show tunes. "Viva Las Vegas" was about as wild as he got after the Army. That and shooting out television sets - which, in retrospect, I can't really blame him for.
Then you had the times where he would fly on his private jet to Denver to get some of those sandwiches...

It's true that Elvis sorta forgot how to rock when he made those B-movies (some of which are enjoyable). "The Colonel" really had a Svengali-like hold on him.
Speaking of Viva Las Vegas, Ann-Margaret really steals that movie.
