Marana Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Assaulting Federal Agent, Weapons Crimes

TUCSON, Ariz. – Chris Paul Snow, 68, of Marana, Arizona, was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer G. Zipps to 144 months in prison for assault of a federal officer with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a destructive device, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.

On August 3, 2018, law enforcement responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting incident at Snow’s residence in Marana. While investigating the incident, officers found several rounds of ammunition, loaded firearm magazines, and a live grenade in Snow’s bedroom. Snow, a convicted felon, was indicted in federal court for unlawfully possessing the grenade and ammunition, and the court issued a warrant for his arrest.

On September 13, 2018, federal agents attempted to serve the arrest warrant at Snow’s residence.  While agents were inside his residence, Snow pointed a firearm at one of the agents and refused to obey commands to drop the firearm. Agents were eventually able to disarm Snow and place him under arrest. Snow was subsequently indicted for these additional crimes. On October 16, 2020, Snow was convicted of all five charges against him following a trial.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, with assistance from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, conducted the investigation in this case. Assistant United States Attorney Angela W. Woolridge, District of Arizona, handled the prosecution.

A live grenade? BULLSHIT

The feds are out right lying until I see proof. They know the public has no clue how difficult it would be to get your hands on a live grenade so they just throw out lies to justify their tactics and unconstitutional existence. Half the people reading this probably think you can just go to a gun show and buy a live grenade.

They throw this crap out there because the public will believe anything. There is no way some 68 year old who has a some total of "several rounds of ammunition" also somehow has a live grenade not a chance unless you are talking about a smoke grenade which is not what is eluded to in this BS story.

No prayers for fed law enforcement such as FBI and DEA please.

The federal police state is out of control and taking down too many good citizens.

Given the stiff jail sentence, is it safe to assume that the perp is a right-winger? A lefty doing the same thing and having the same weapons would probably be released without bail and have the charges dropped.

What's it like to be an arresting officer and finding a live grenade?

That would depend on a number of factors.

-Does it have a pin
-If it has a pin, does he have his finger in the ring.
If the first is no, or the second is yes, how fast can you run.

I was also wondering how he got this alleged “live grenade.” I was also wondering what it was that caused the police to raid his house in the first place.

As long as the pin is in place, it is a paperweight.

Oh, I see there was a “shooting incident” reported. I wonder what that was about?

Someone gets between me and a grenade or a radioactive device, I’ll pray for them.

Agreed that we have many corrupt - but there are good ones and our quality of life would crater over night if they stopped putting themselves on the line for us.

Exactly! This is the BATFE so the default setting should be to not believe a single solitary word of anything these people say.

Later we will find out the guy was wearing a MAGA hat in his front yard and accidentally chewed his pop tart into the shape of a grenade.

Lacking a little detail isn't it.

live grenade? "While agents were inside his residence, Snow pointed a firearm at one of the agents and refused to obey commands to drop the firearm. "

This is from another article: "(Chris Paul Snow) was convicted in 2006 for his ties to a violent drug ring. Chris Paul Snow served four years in prison for racketeering related to a gang that authorities said committed homicides, kidnappings and other crimes.

Chris Paul Snow, now 65 years old, was tried in 2006 along with 13 others for his leading role in a group that sold methamphetamine in Tucson.

Here's a mugshot of the perp. He is no stranger to prison.

Dude, there was no live grenade. Bank on it. They are lying. Keep in mind they can be lying by playing word games also or leaving out important details. Maybe the guy bought a display paperweight and put gun powder or something in it. That's NOT a live grenade.

Do you have any idea how controlled live frag hand grenades are? There is about as much chance of finding one in some thugs drawer as there would be of finding a 5000 pound laser guided bomb in his trunk. It's not going to happen.

It was a “Sting-Ball Grenade”. Lets combine a flashbang with rubber bullets and CS! Probably not fun to be in the room with, but convicting him for “illegal possession of a destructive device” seems quite a stretch. I know, he’s a scumbag and we should cheer his conviction, but...

It all seems a bit weird. His indictment wasn't published, probably to protect informants or UC's. He was unarmed and there was no weapon found at the scene, just a few rounds and magazines. There was supposed to be an investigation of the shooting, but nothing ever came of it.

I don’t agree. WE have a border over which flows tons of drugs, child trafficking victims, illegals etc. A handgrenade would be nothing.

Under federal law, using a firearm in a crime of violence is a mandatory minimum of 10 years, consecutive to any sentence on other charges.
