25 YEARS to life? wtf? Should have been multiple life sentences or death if there was a death penalty in NY at the time.
About four years ago, the home sold for about $600,000. Which is actually surprisingly low for the area and size of house. The garage you see in the back is actually a boathouse as well. On the other side of it is a canal that connects to South Oyster Bay (and eventually the Atlantic Ocean).
I would not want to live in that house.
Ricky Kasso, The Acid King, took kids from Northport to see the body of a 17 year old boy he had killed. Nobody who saw the body said anything for weeks.
About a year after the murders, a financially strapped couple bought the home (for about $80k I think) and only lived in it for three months. Never filed a police report or anything.
Suddenly they are living in California with a book deal and claiming that the house was haunted, forcing them to abandon it. Because the killer was then on trial and claiming he was possessed by the devil, this couple decided to cash in on that, especially since movies like "The Exorcist" and "The Omen" were doing great box office at the time.
The home has had multiple owners since and none of them claimed to see any of the phenomena claimed by this first couple. By all accounts, all of these incidents were completely fabricated.
As for the killer, well that is a fascinating story in itself. I suggest reading the full entry on this guy at Murderpedia.com. He was a spoiled kid who got mixed up with drugs and alcohol. His dad made a bundle of money selling used Buicks. I guess he wasn't the greatest Dad but the kid was rotten to the core. He ended up killing his entire family, his parents, his two brothers and his two sisters. Six in all. Then he tried to blame the murders on a mafia hitman. Even named the guy to police. Then claimed that the mafia hitman escorted him around the house killing his whole family while letting him go free at the end, after which he reported to work, left early, and then went bar-hopping with his friends.
The cops bought that story for about 2.3 seconds. This kid was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, that's for sure. If you check out photos of him at the time, he looked a little like Charles Manson.
Anyway, that is a great resource for anybody who wants to read about famous murders. It's not just regurgitated news articles but a lot of original content as well.
murderpedia.com does not work there is no website there.
In any case. I can accept that people are going to make money off of the case, no doubt about that. And people will certainly lie their rear ends off to make money.
The killer had told multiple stories and I think that multiple judges simply did not buy it over the years.
Still I just would just not want to live in the house where six innocents were murdered. Not that I am worried about ghosts, but that it would be on my mind in a most inordinate way.

I corrected myself further downthread.
