Was the lady in TX put in cuffs recent? I thought TX was good about the mask thing.

I think it happened in Austin. Their city council refused to eliminate the mask mandate upon the advice of the health authority there. The state’s Attorney General, Ken Paxton, is suing Austin to comply with the elimination of the mask mandate. And individual businesses may still impose whatever mandate they wish for entry. We can also support those businesses or not.
I’m headed to north of Houston for 10 days in a week from today, assuming I have a negative covid test on Sunday. I’ll let you know what I encounter in that area while I’m there. We deliberately chose Texas because Governor Abbott lifted the statewide restrictions. If I’m escaping Canada and its oppressive covid rules, I wanted to be somewhere where it wasn’t like being at home.

If you stay north of Houston it should be ok. A friend was telling me just yesterday about being in a small town over the weekend and NOBODY was wearing the diapers. In Harris County though, different story. People are largely in the habit of it now and the (literal) Sandinista County Judge in’t about to let loose of her iron grip.
I am so tired of communists.
It happened in Galveston, which is south of Houston about one hour. Gov. Abbott’s lifting of the mandate had some fine print which this lady evidently didn’t see: that if the business still wants you to wear a mask and you refuse, you can be arrested for trespass. Which is what happened. She was at the bank (Chase, iirc) to withdraw some money, so I’m hoping she moves all of it somewhere else!
