That’s another possibility.

I hate what the “dark empire” has done to my enjoyment of music and movies. It’s hard to watch or listen now without wondering in the back of my mind “What awful thing did you do, or what awful thing did they do to you so you could have this success?” It taints my enjoyment now and I resent that.

Bagster has the right idea. Enjoy the music of newcomers, like Allie Sherlock, who are making it on their own the hard way in the city streets. I hope that young girl can find success and manage to avoid all the traps the industry sets for those who want to make a good living in the business.
~~~~~~~~~
It’s really been hard for me too. I recoil from movies and music I used to really enjoy. I look at the celebrities and wonder what they’ve done. Some seem ‘too nice’ but so did Tom Hanks (who hasn’t posted on his private twitter account since may 2020).
I try to enjoy music I used to love but if I find myself humming to it, or dancing to it while doing housework, part of me remembers and I can’t. Last time I sneered to myself, “Yes. Yes. Just dance along to Satan’s personal music collection...”
I used to love movies. I started only watching older ones because ...you know. But I believe many if not all of the older ones were made under the same terms too. :(
I was treated as strange when I stopped watching television years ago. I found them to be anesthetic (passivity) and driving though processes and memories even when the television wasn’t on. Now when I check in to see what peeps are watching, Lucifer has his own television show. A few years ago it was all about killing zombies (are they still limping around?). Oh and there’s an advertisement for a family show - the family in question is shown with the children seated on a couch drinking blood out of sippy cups and tumblers, and mom stands behind the couch drinking it too. *shudder*
I do like Bagster’s Allie Sherlock links.
I used to like Keith Urban’s song Blue Ain’t Your Color (not the video - which seemed dystopian). I went looking for what I HOPE are others performing that song and others I won’t think/know is already, you know...evil. It has opened up new music. Old dog/new tricks. :D
Okay to balance out the notion of a lower case commander in chief Kamala Harris, a little blast from the past:
I'm sure the MSM is warming up the "Great Uniter" meme for the upcoming cic.
I guess I’m a real weirdo, then. Never been a movie buff, although I saw a light smattering over the years when they had the VHS rental stores, and I did watch “Breaking Bad” with hubby. Watched “The Chosen” online recently, and enjoyed it immensely (season 2 starts soon. Yay!) Always hated movie theaters.
I’ve only ever truly enjoyed listening to music from the romantic, classical, baroque and renaissance periods. I dislike reading fictional stories, and can’t remember what was on regular TV last time I watched it. (It was more recent than the ‘70s - Miami Vice, maybe? *shrug”) Used to love the old comedy shows, when comedians were brilliant and funny without being raunchy, way back when. Those were fun times. We unplugged from the dish for good somewhere around the turn of the century.
Okay, what post got deleted? When there are no trolls around i get paranoid that its one of my glorious work-of-art posts.
And since I can't remember my own posts, you can imagine my stress level.
I’ve cut myself off emotionally from actor’s politics. I simply enjoy film for what it is. I have to separate the two otherwise I wouldn’t have anything to watch or listen to.
One of the reasons why I love the band Iron Maiden so much is they NEVER talk politics ever. Why alienate half your fan base? BTW, I’m getting involved in my fourth Iron Maiden tribute project. I’m looking extremely forward to it. (drums)
My music is the old Gospel songs by the Jordanaires and I have a disc that my sister recorded of Gospel songs that she and her husband made. I love the songs, but it’s kinda hard to listen to now, since she passed away not too long ago.
I find that I don’t really miss TV all that much and I get more done on my to do lists than I used to. I don’t believe that the old time movie stars were as bad as they are today, and I don’t think it was as widespread either.
So If I was going to watch anything, I’d watch reruns of old Westerns—where the good guys wear white hats and the good guys always win. Ha.
