Ron White summed it all up for me... “...it’s early in the morning, it’s cold and I don’t want to go...”
I hunted ducks a couple of times with a guy whose wife couldn’t understand how he could get out of a warm bed at 4 AM on a drizzly November morning to go sit in the mud and wait for sunrise. So, she went with him. Once.
You get older you rationalize “hey the deer do actually move around during the day”
Which is honestly rarely true except in drizzle or snow
I don’t like to traipse thru the woods in pitch black in 20 degrees either when I can wait till the crack of 7..lol.....and in a shoot house...another old person invention....I can be more comfortable and sit all day with lunch if I want
I do most of my hunting ..from 2- 30 minutes past official sunset
Biggest issue with shoot houses is not deer scared of them....it’s if your cell phone has coverage ..lol....distracted
If I’m on the ground or A ladder stand ....you have to be more disciplined
