I was educated by straight off he boat Irish priests and nuns in rural 1960’s Mobile, AL. They were serious about their St Paddy’s Day. One of the only days uniforms were exempted. If you didn’t wear green, you got a pinch.

Was listening to a podcast...traditional St. Paddy's Day fare is corned pork. Irish new to USA in NYC were housed next to Jewish neighborhoods which led them to corning beef.

Oh, yeah. Up in the hills and hollers where I grew up, there are a lot of descendants of German, Irish, and Italian immigrants. I learned early on that if you didn't wear something green on St. Paddy's Day (especially as a kid), you'd have a few pinch bruises on you the next morning. Like I told Vision last week, the Hooley Plunge and Hooley Pub Crawl are taken seriously up there, too. It's almost as big as the 4th of July.
