How’s it going?
Evening, folks.
Hey. What’s new?
Thanks for the post. This time I bookmarked WAMU Listen Live URL.
I definitely want to check out Gunsmoke. Best TV western series ever, and by far. I understand William Conrad was Dillon on radio, but didn’t get the TV series because of his appearance. CBS made the right move in casting James Arness as the Marshal. I see this radio episode was made in 1954. Gunsmoke, the tv series began in 1955. If I’m not mistaken the radio version was aired for a while even after the TV series began.
I’ve watched every episode of Gunsmoke that’s available on INSP, MeTV and TV land. I’m guessing that’s roughly half of all the episodes made. I see a boxed set with all the TV episodes are available for purchase, but it costs more than $300. I haven’t ruled out buying it, but I’m in no hurry to spend that much money.
I’d also like to check out Duffy’s Tavern. I heard about it, but no very little. My first thought was maybe it was a precursor to Cheers.
Hi, Guys! :-)
Interesting, I’ve never seen the TV Gunsmoke but wonder if it’s as complex as the radio show. The radio show is an icon of the genre.
Duffy’s Tavern is generally overrated/is a B show IMO and has average writing- even though a few of its writers were highly accomplished. Which I don’t understand. Duffy is never heard from, it’s the stories of his employees/customers and their stereotypical lives. The best DT IMO is the Christmas one that is famous. That’s good enough to live forever.
Hi Gina, what’s up? This weekend, and a blast from the past, I grilled with some of the mesquite you sent years ago. It’s still good. Thanks again. Do you remember what the other wood is? It think it’s pecan.
Dang, Vision! I’m surprised that still had any good smoke left and wasn’t petrified. :-) I would guess the other was probably pecan. That had to be more than 10 years ago!
Heading out to Kroger. May just get seom kaiser rolls and pan fry some crabcakes for dinner.
Hey, Gina. Yeah, Vision, it’s 81 and sunny here, been that way all week. But we have rain moving in tonight, and Wednesday may be a real doozy severe-wise. After the rain clears Thursday evening, it’ll be dropping back into the upper 50’s during the day and upper 30’s at night. Typical Alabama March. All the white dogwood trees around here are flowering, and it’s like it snowed.
Oh, sounds beautiful, the trees, Viking. But I hope y’all are spared the severe weather this week. We have the severe potential down here, too.
No St. Paddy’s Day shows?
DST inhales Vigorously
I’m trying to remember (and that takes effort anymore) - are you in MS or LA?
Don’t worry. The SJW’s will be coming after St. Paddy’s Day soon, I’m sure. In their world, a combative, pugnacious, drunken Irishman stereotype is like chum to a shark. I’m about 90% of Teutonic extraction, but I got a wee bit o’ Clan Gross Irish on my mother’s side and a wee bit o’ Clan Hutchinson Scot on my father’s side, so I got a wee bit o’ skin in the game, either way. I just identify as a Nordic Viking and play one on TV. 🤣 However, the surname Hutchinson was first used by Vikings who settled in ancient Scotland, so I got the whole damn ballfield covered.
I don’t think SWJ will come after St. Paddy as there’s no money in it for them.
