Plenty of genius-level people went to ASU, especially for undergrad. It has a strong Honors College, decent engineering school, etc.

The real issue is that 12 is too young to attend university and the elite schools understandably aren’t big into accepting kids whereas state universities often will if the kid has a HS diploma or equivalent.

If she is really that advanced, there are plenty of ways to challenge her without throwing her into a university environment. Bad decision by the parents.

I guess it depends on what the definition of genius is.
I agree with your assessment that she isn’t prepared for University.

They do not live there usually they live with parents and take courses
