When realtor Ben Dixon caught sight of his face during an early morning Zoom call with a client in January, he was distracted by what he perceived were bags and discoloration under his eyes.
“I thought, ‘You could do with a little help here!’” the 42-year-old admitted to The Post, noting how he’d become more bothered by his appearance while working remotely during the pandemic.
So, like a growing number of dudes who are increasingly horrified by their appearance on countless Zoom calls, he consulted a friend with seemingly perfect skin, who generously shared his secret: concealer for men.

Sounds good Ben. Throw on some eyeliner and why not a bra and panties? Maybe just a half slip and dressing gown for around the house.

My department of ~400 people all work from home.
Several hours of teleconferencing daily.
No video. For >4 years.
I didn’t even know what my own boss looked like for 2 years.
I didn’t know what _any_ of my co-workers looked like for 2 years. Our first in-person department gathering was a hysterical discovery of strange faces and familiar voices.
Video brings little value to teleconferencing.
The “manly” solution to looking bad on video calls is to put opaque tape over the camera.
No “men” are doing this.

Well, males. Done know about “men”.
That wasn’t Vaseline.
My office — and others I hear about — is having completely pointless, almost-daily Zoom meetings. I think a lot of people, bosses particularly, are becoming addicted to the technology.
Just like taking a moment to make sure your tie is straight, your belt line proper and shoes not dusty, it is foolish not to look proper on camera.
I go into make-up session before every zoom meeting. It is a whole different game with these high resolution cameras and lighting involved.
The question didn't bother me a bit, and I'm at the stage of my life where I don't have to accept any job offer.
How do they see your shoes?

When my name is no longer on the conference roster, you know I have left the “room”.
Lack of video opens up wonderful opportunities to engage in a normal-sounding conference in exotic circumstances; so long as background sounds are neutral, nobody need be distracted by my discussing system designs, say, on a picnic table on a hill at the “Little House on the Prairie” homestead, in a parking lot at Mount Rushmore, or under a sun umbrella on my back patio. There are times video would render me unavailable (”sorry, have to take a vacation day”) due to distracting visuals when my involvement in an issue is necessary.
